Wow! Now there's some facts of which I was not aware... guess I never took time to get to know them!! ;) Very cool one, Sandra -- and I especially like the fact that the males are respected on the size of their front teeth rather than the size of their.... well, you know - lol!! ;) Thanx for sharing, my lady! ;) Yvette :)

See? I can do comic relief without really using the words... have a great time if it sometimes with my students (although only the really attentive ones catch the 'nuances' once in a while...wink, wink)... so good to 'hear' you smile, my friend!

This reminds me of my trip down the Oragon coast many years ago. We were able to see the sea lion cave and get close the them. Of course behind a fence. I was impressed with their size and how they were able to use the waves to jump onto the rocks they rested on. The were natural surfers.
I found this fact very interesting when you mentioned-When they do want to sleep whilst in the water, they use their tusks as an anchor to hook them onto a rigid piece of ice. - Veenbee

Thank you so much for this lovely review. I'm really pleased it brought back some nice memories. I'd love to see them in their natural habitat, but that's much too far for me to travel. Yes, those tusks come in handy when you are a huge mound of blubber and need to get out of the water. Lol. Thanks again, Veenbee. 😊 Sandra xx

Hello Sandra,
Another wonderful poem and entry for the book of amazing animals,
though the sounds they make are eerily similar to snoring. Tusk, tusk, as they say.
When they rear up and point those tusks, it would scare any sensible
polar bear away. It was humorous to see them "roll" back into the water in a film we recently saw, easier to roll than to walk or waddle.
Great extensive notes. Your book may be more like an encyclopedia.
Hope all is well in the UK.
Best wishes.
Robert

Thank you so much for another delightful review, Robert, and all the shiny stars. I saw a nature film a while ago and would love to be able to go and see these amazing animals up close in their natural habitat. Too cold for me, unfortunately, it wouldn't help my arthritis. (And I don't think I'll ever be flying again)
Only three to go then I'll be back writing fiction. Have a lovely day, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Hello Sandra xx,
W is for the Walrus - Nice piece of General Non-Fiction having impressive phraseology, smooth flow throughout from the beginning to the end, and transparently depicting characteristics, habits and habitat of the Walruses.
Pictures enhance depth of the theme.
Style and Presentation are notable.

This essay is adequate for 12 year, but has some problems.
1. Why discuss size in the first and last paragraph. These paragraphs need to be combined.
2. You have a tendency to use "thiis" as a vague reference or in an awkward construction. In paragraph 3, "this makes." What makes? Suggestion: "The thickness of the skin--four inches--protects them. "This is helpful." What is helpful? Suggestion: Finally, their ability to slow their heart beat allows them, etc. The trick in these situations is to ask your two questions: What is my subject and what does the subject do. Prefer action verbs to linking verbs--is, are, was, were, etc. In paragraph 5, "this makes." What makes?
3. Paragraph 7. In the first sentence locate the subject and have the subject do something.

I hope all of my suggestions make sense to you. (Notice, I did not write "all of this makes sense to you.) Jeff

As usual, this piece is on point. Times are tough these days with kids going back to school under covid measures and this is a welcome break from that. Keep up the great work, thanks for sharing. Later daze.

I was fascinated to learn about using the tusks as anchors to hold them in place as they sleep!

FYI: A Miata Spyder (a sport's car that I love) is smaller and weighs less than a walrus.

I greatly enjoy reading about your animals.

My goodness! That is small. But I do love little sporty numbers, lol. My first sports car was an MGB, bright red, wonderful! I wish I still had it, it would be worth more than I paid for it now. (50 years ago!)
Back to your review! LOL, yes, I was surprised at what the tusks were used, and for what prestige they had when it came to the length. Thank you for another nice review, my friend, have a lovely day. :)) Sandra x

The walrus gets a cool cartoon and a fine poem. A ton and a half of fun with tusks to boot. Love the pictures and data, as well as the video. ................

You did such a nice job putting vital information about the Walrus into your poem. I had no idea they used their tusks for anchorage.

I was amazed to learn how long they can continuously swim, and all that without having a single cup of coffee, haha.

Another top notch job, Sandra. Wonderful pictures and interesting information, as always. Hugs, Lou

LOL! You are so funny, Lou, of course they don't stop for coffee, they drink Earl Gray Tea! LOL, LOL.

Thank you so much for your fun review, my friend, and all those shiny stars, you're a diamond and I do so appreciate you! Only three more to go, hope to see you there. Warm hugs! :)) Sandra xxx
