Ah, I lost my bet (with myself)! I figured 'whales' would be your @ word. :)

These guys are amazing! The size is incredible and the fact that the tusks can weigh several pounds is so crazy!

A couple of things:

these tusks plays an important >> these tusks play() an important

these tusks have is pushing them into the ice >> The wording here is a bit off. Might say something like 'these tusks have is pushing the animal (or the walrus) into the ice '. I know that's a nit-picky point, but you said ... :)

name walruses were given, Odobenidae ... came about when they >> I don't think you need both 'were given' and 'came about'. And REALLY? 'Walks With Teeth'? Have you ever seen the movie, Dances With Wolves? We could do a cool remake of it with this! lol!!!

That walrus sounds a bit like my daughter's Great Dane, Ladybug, first thing of a morning! lol

Great job on this, Sandra. Thank you so much!

Blessings,
Debs

Wow, Debs, what would I do without you? Don't you dare go away again!!! I've made the corrections. Thank you so very much for this.

Yes, I did watch 'Dancing with Wolves' it was amazing. 'Walks with Teeth' somehow doesn't have that same ring about it, lol.

My neighbour had a lovely Great Dane, she was so gentle and sweet, we were all upset when she died. The first time I met her, I was sitting having a coffee with my new neighbour in her garden and I felt something wet on my neck, I turned to look what was there and came face to face with this huge head, she really made me jump. That was so funny, but we became the best of friends.

Thank you again, my wonderful friend. :)) Sandra xxx

This is a delightful informative piece about the walrus, tusks and all. Including the sounds was a great idea. You presented the information in a clear way so that your 12 year old grandson could understand and enjoy. Great poem to introduce the walrus. Th walrus has the weight of a small car--that's something! Best of luck with your book. judi

I do love all the information you put on after your cute alphabet poems. Did I ever think about the life of a walrus, and what size they actually are? No, but I love the fact you have managed to educate me in such an interesting way.
Thank you!

oops - dangling preposition:
"...with which they have to deal."

"On top of all that(,)"

"...slow their heartbeat(,)"

Awww!!! (Russia, and the deaths of so many...)

Climate change is a HUGE problem, and mostly being ignored!!!

Fabulous!!! Minor editing needed only -- still exceptional writing!!!

You are writing an ABC Book for your grandson, incorporating facts of all the animals, but this book is for the letter W - Walrus, with many pictures and descriptions for easy learning; well said, well done, thanks for sharing this. ALCREATOR

A great addition to your book of animals, Sandra. You begin with a really neat little poem, which I liked immensely, but thought a word might have been left out. In this line, "Their tusks for anchorage" it felt like there should be an "are" after tusks. I wasn't sure. The wonderful information that follows the poem was truly fascinating. For such a long bit of story, there were almost no errors. I did see one tiny word... see below.

"Both the male and female walruses have tusks that can grow as long at (as) thirty-six inches."

I wondered why the type right before the last picture was different. It was larger than the former part of the story.

This was extremely interesting and I love that you're doing this book. It is full of fascinating information.

Congratulations! I see you are number one novelist on site! That's super.

Thank you so much for your lovely review, MissMerri, and for pointing out those two nits. I have no idea why that font was larger at the end, I've corrected that now, as well as that-it/is. I'm pleased you enjoyed the facts about these amazing creatures, I was so surprised to read some of the things they do, especially the way they care for their sick, or dying. It shows how all animals have feelings, although many people don't think so. Thanks again, my friend, and have a lovely day. :)) Sandra xx

Ah, the mighty walrus. They always were my favorite creatures of the sea. I hope society finds a way to save the walruses and their habitat before it's too late.

Hi Sandra, I think they are sooooo cute...they look sooo innocent...all that blubber...and those big brown eyes...
I have read a lot about the Arctic...as polar bears are one of my top favorite animals...and it breaks my heart that the ice is melting away...I don't like capturing them...but there will be a time...a lot of the animals on earth will become extinct...sigh...and I don't know if we can even do anything about it...hmmmmmm...

this is very interesting my amazing friend...I always learn so much from your chapters...and love your pictures...way to much work for me sweet girl....LOL...
tell Graham this picture is a classic...he even made a Walrus look happy...

as for your video...it sounds like my grandmother in her late years...I would lay in my bedroom and laugh...

very well written beautiful you...I love your poem...and your story told....love you the mostest...Linda xxoo

say Hi to Ian for me...xxoo

    Hello Linda, 😘
While researching the Arctic, there were some awful photos of polar bears almost skin and bones, they were starving. It's so sad to see them like that. We are all responsible for the well-being of our planet and every living creature on it. We've let so many down. Doing this project has been an eye-opener for me. I hope the little messages I've put into each of animals facts, will make our children and their parents aware of what is happening and do something about it.

Thank you so much for the six stars, my dear friend, and your fabulous review. I know what you mean about capturing them, but I think that will be the only way to stop them becoming extinct until we can rectify the damage global warming has caused.

I laughed my socks off when I heard that video, LOL, I had to put it on here so you could all hear them. I don't think your grandmother will be looking down on you favourably if she happens to read what you've put here!! LOL!!

Have a lovely day, dear friend. I've just noticed you've emailed me, I'll have a read in a minute. Take care, and stay safe. Love to you and all your family. :)) xxxxxxxxx Biggest hugs, too!! 😍😍😍💕 xxx Sandra xx

Hi Sandra, it makes me sick as well to see all the damage we have done to the places wildlife live in...we've taken so much of their land...now they get shot trying to eat out of our trash cans...writing this makes me cry...

Naaaa...I used to make her laugh all the time...when she got older...she started using something called BenGay...it smelled like a peppermint stick...well!!! one night I started laughing in my room...I mean falling off the bed laughing...so grandma started laughing too...she called in there and asked me what was so funny...I told her the bed smelled like a giant peppermint stick...I guess you just had to be there...but it made her laugh...

well!!! you have a wonderful day...and take care...stay safe as well...bunches of love on the way...to you and your family...biggest smiles back at you...and I love those hugs...Linda xxoo

I am really learning some interesting facts from your book. I had no idea that a walrus could sleep so long, or on the other hand, they can go for days without sleep. Your book will soon be coming to an end. I will miss it.
