'Aside from being a geographic hurdle on my way elsewhere,... ' Cute.
Wow Illinois has eleven nuclear power plants- I did not know that!
I loved the facts that you chose to share. Enjoyed.

Thank you, RS.

I am enjoying your take on each of the states from you own perspective. I would imagine your views are unique to you alone. I'm tempted to do the same thing from my experience with each of the states. I think it would be an interesting exercise in remembering what I know about this country.

Bill,
My dad wore soot suits when he went to Chicago, and a lot of people mistook him for mafioso. Lol
My grade school best friend and I listened to the famous WLS station in Chicago (we could only get it on our AM radios at night).
I used to go through the Chicago airport to get from PA to CA when I was in the military.
I have good vibes about this state. I love all the things you list that Chicago is famous for (except nuclear power plants).
Your writing is so clear and professional. (I aspire to these heights).
Good luck in all your contests,
Cindy

I am beginning to grow attached to the way you seem to see each State above all as a passing point to reach somewhere else. I wonder if you will ever reveal to us your favourite/ideal destination?

A fun look at another of America's fifty states-Dang, with that bit about sodomy it probably can't be a read for kids in fifth grade learning about the states! Interesting though.

-We used to visit my grandparents
in MO. every summer so a trip
through Ill. meant we were getting
a lot closer since leaving Del.
-You did a good job, Bill,
but I was looking forward to the Obamas!
-Thanks for sharing what you know,
or don't know about Illinois!

Dear Bill, this is a most educational post, I am glad that it has not impacted your life any more than mine. ((Thought come to think of it , I did go the the top of the Sears tower, And sang in a concert or two. Didn't Wikipedia mention Frank Lloyd Wright? It should have, if they mentioned Bob Fosse. And what about Carl Sandburg didn't he live there too?
I've got to go check the internet. write to you soon!

The Chicago Bears were not mentioned either.

Sounds like Illinois didn't make much of an impact with you. I've never been, so I can't say. I'm sure there's lot of interesting things about the state, but nothing comes to mind that I've heard.

After Chicago it seems to be farmers and Not-well-inois.

I'm enjoying your tours of the states. I was hoping for more of your personal impressions of the state, but as you indicated it was more of a drive-through state to you. Interesting tidbits about the power plants and the state being the first to de-criminalize sodomy. I get the impression you aren't too fond of the state. judi

Illinois has no effect on me.

A sister-in-law used to live In Libertyville. We visited her. When much younger, I went to Chicago. It's sad what's been happening there lately. judi

The worst rain storm I ever drove through was in Illinois. That was when I worked on the wagon train for Vision Quest. That's my biggest memory of Illinois. Keep'em coming, what's next, Indiana?
