-Very nice artwork, photos, poem, and story, Sandra.
-You did a good job with the vultures; who would
have thought they could be so interesting and important, too.
-They won't win the "prettiest creature" contest, though.
-I guess you could also say they are the sanitation
engineers of the bird world.
-It's hard to focus on just one of them since they
do similar things but in slightly different ways.
-They certainly keep their young ones
for quite a while, which is a good thing.
-There were many other interesting things,
like how high they can fly, and the wide
range for their habitat.
-I liked the concluding paragraph, too.

Thank you so very much for your lovely review and all the stars, Pam! Although I agree with you about them not being the prettiest creature, lol, I do believe the vultures mums think they are!! LOL. I was reading about the fires in California today and there one one lady said the fires were getting very close to where a California vultures nest was, and there was a chick in it. They don't learn to fly until they are six months old, and no one could get near to save it. I felt so sad for the poor thing. I wonder how many wildlife will lose their lives in these fires.
Anyway, let's get off the sad bits. I'm really pleased you thought I'd written this one well, and liked the closing paragraph, that means a lot, my friend. Thank you. Sending you a really big warm hug. :)) Sandra xxx

You are very welcome and deserving of the stars and review, Sandra. I didn't think about the mums! It is sad whenever there is a disaster and so many things and people and impacted.

I've made some progress with my message box, and this one moved on up the line. Oh, wow, I still have a six left - I've been very generous with them this morning.

Someone once referred to Vultures as God's cleanup crew. Another interesting post and well written poem to accompany it. Hugs, Lou

Hello Sandra, Now I really like your poem for this one. It really is very good. I did not even try to guess the V. Feeling very dull and tired. But you are as vivacious as ever with a capital V - LOL! I like to be on FS but I am struggling with old Father Time. There is not enough hours in the day to do everything I want to. It must be old age creeping up on my and he's catching. But I peep in to keep in touch, especially to catch work like this.
I wont say 'keep up the good work' - rather, 'don't overdo it'. Love Dorothy xx (eaoe)

Thank you so very much for this lovely review and all the stars, Dorothy. I quite understand what you're saying about 'Old Father Time' he's the only old 'man' who continues to move fast! I've only four letters to do now, and then, I'll continue with a story I'm writing. I've already written 25,000 words, but I have a way to go yet. It's a romantic one, I have NEVER written one of those, so I hope it works. Sending lots of love, my friend. )) Sandra xx

As I've mentioned several times, this collected works is excellent and is definitely something I could see myself buying for my 7 year old as she continues to learn how to read. Keep up the great work, thanks for sharing. Later daze.

I just read Barb's poem about vultures and now I'm reading your wonderful and informative post. Yes, I knew about their work as the cleanup crew. I also knew that having the bald head helped protect against bacteria. I'm glad you mentioned the California condor. Part of the problem was the use of certain bullets by hunters and those bullets remained in the carcasses which the vultures ate and sick. I don't know if they ever made a law about what type of bullets hunters could use. Thanks for all the great research and pictures!

I read her poem, too. That was incredible that we both hit on the same subject at the same time. They say that happens a lot in families, that goes to prove how close our FS family is.
I have been worried about the California condor, and the other animals in that mega fire that is happening there. So many were lost in the Australian fires last year, and now this in America. It's very worrying. I didn't know about the bullets, it would be a good idea if they changed those.
Thank you, Helen, for your lovely review, I really appreciated it. Have a lovely day, my friend. :) Sandra xx

Fascinating--I always thought that "vultures" eat live prey and "buzzards" dead; I see now I'd been mislead--you sure make learning fun for all ages! Wonder what creatures W X Y Z will bring! Cheers. LIZ

We don't have vultures in Australia. I know they play a vital role in cleaning up the environment but they are not at all attractive.

Just two spags, and I did wonder if , 'old world' and 'new world' should be capitalised.

It's diet, as we all know, is not going to give the meat - delete apostrophe

The New World vultures' are the most widespread - delete apostrophe

You're nearly to the end of the series!

Best wishes
Judy

Thank you so much, Judy, for another lovely review. Yes, New World should be capitalised, and I've just noticed that I have done that in some sentences and not in others, so I've corrected those now. Thank you for pointing that out. And I've deleted those apostrophes. Thank you for reading and letting me know of my errors, I appreciated that. Have a lovely day, my friend. :)) Sandra xx

Ah, vultures. There are actually quite a bit of them in my hometown. I'm pretty sure I've seen the New Town Turkey Vulture here before. Can't believe you hit V already; you're not too much farther now.

They are very interesting and unique creatures who are responsible for keeping a delicate balance in nature. Without them and it as you've so eloquently stated, dead animals would contaminate both land and water supplies. I like how you've presented this misunderstood bird. Thanks for sharing this well written work. Well done!
