My birthday is in September- I celebrate it OFTEN (far more than just on that single day). But I never thought of having my own music!!! Loved it!

Well done. I enjoyed this one greatly!

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your wonderful support of the poem. I am a September baby too; I was born in a hurricane, my mother tells me. estory

Well, that was very beautiful. I have learned in free prose you need a lot of adjectives, and good ones, and different ones. I have tried several times to write something besides the sing-song poetry I have always writen. This is a work in progress, I hope. :)

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your wonderful comments supporting this poem. Yes this poem is largely built around images but I wanted the style to be more conversational. I think the trick to writing free verse is to have a good understanding of your own voice, and how you articulate the drama and spirit of a moment. Drama and spirit becomes the blueprint for how you arrange the language. estory

It is beautiful. I can sigh over it and dwell in it. And I feel so connected: September is also my most cherished month. The images you paint are romantic, the music is a good companion.

I have a most unimportant comment:
The first two lines of the last stanza show me fade and fading. Suggestion: Put a full stop after the first fade. Start the following line without the "like" (not needed at all)

A harmonica and an old guitar mist away

Just thoughts. Love, Marjon.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your continued support of my poetry. I am glad you are enjoying it so much. I'll have to take a look at your suggestions but I kind of like that minimalist feel of the repetition of 'fade' in an evolving form. estory

Welcome, Estory! Ok, the fade and fading are nice too. But don't use "like" please.

Beautifully written my friend. I like the seasons very much, they have their own personalities. The brightness and heat of summer, the full glow and maturity of life, spring, the season of new beginnings and life, autumn, the time of consistency and glory of the declining years, winter, the time of fallowness and restoration. Beautifully written, I love the fact you only write with the positive and the progressive, with the ponderings of the scholar. Well done, beautifully written, blessings Roy

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your wonderful comments supporting this poem. I am glad you enjoyed it so much and that it captured something of the feel of that last day of summer and the first day of fall in one moment. This was a more upbeat one. Sometimes life is good...estory

This is a beautiful poem with a soft feel and a peaceful rhythm. I love this tribute to September and all the life and living that accompanies it. It is soon to be September!

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your wonderful encouraging remarks supporting the poem. I wanted to recapture that feeling i had when I used to drive out to Montauk Point on Labor Day weekend and it felt like the last day of summer and the first day of fall all in one moment. estory
