Marjon, those must have been hard times for you and him. It is so difficult to see a once vibrant person fade into such a painful being. I hope Writing your poems help you cope with the past.
Blessings,
Cindy

Cindy, thanks for the review. I wrote the poems in the process of caring for Carlo. It helped me enormously to cope then. Now, I am only posting them all. Some had to be edited a bit, but they are pretty much as I originally wrote them.

Dear Marjon, I do not know whether your poem or Author's notes reveal the reality of what Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia can do to a once wonderful person, AND the significant other, who once loved them!
Your words, "who cries out , groans with silly smiles and swells up with noxious fluid." paints a graphic picture of the devastation.

Suzanna, thanks for this review. Yes, it might seem exaggerated, but this was all sadly the situation. He had cancer as well, and until I could administer the painkillers, he cried out often in pain. With the artificial esophagus the doctors placed, he could only, and with great difficulty drink something. Many times it was vomited immediately afterward.

Hello Marjon,
I enjoyed reading your poem, and then I read your author notes, and then I had to read your poem again. It now holds a lot more weight and it's so sad. I'm sorry that illness tore your world apart, that your love changed and that you had to readjust.
Thank you for sharing such a personal poem.
Best wishes, Debra

Debra, this is a beautiful review, thank you. I can see you have not read the prior poems of this book "A Silent Cry". Please look it up in my portfolio. Already the very first, the Prologue, will make it all clear to you. The poems that follow I posted chronological. There are still seven to follow.

Hi Marjon,
I just spent the last half hour or so reading ?A Silent Cry?
I am quite teared-up now...
When I first joined Fanstory, my Grandad was in the latter stages of dementia and writing about it gave me an outlet for my grief. I found it cathartic, so I totally understand your need to write it out, to share your own experiences as the wife and caregiver of someone with Alzheimers.
I hope you find a publisher for your book...
Sending my best to you, Debra

Debra, thank you so very much for your message. You read more poems of A Silent Cry. I take that as a compliment, and I am glad you got moved by it. Thanks also for your good wishes to find a publisher.
Take care!

You face the reality of losing your husband in spirit and in soul, here. the last line is really poignant. 'No joy, love, or light.' You are in total darkness. And it really speaks of how much our sense of joy is tied to those people around us with whom we can share life. Wonderful from the heart language in personal terms light up your work. estory

I relate to what your going through. Seeing your strength grow weak. Both his and yours, but better days do follow. Stay strong and writing you feelings down is a great release. Thank you for sharing.

These poems are such heartbreaking reality. I'm imagine someone going through what you did would find a kinship in reading this knowing other people feel as they do. You couldn't blame yourself for admitting a lack of love because the man you had loved so deeply wasn't there any more. You are to be admired for continuing to be there from him and meet his needs.

There's no doubt about it Marjon, your bravery has not gone unnoticed. But you show the true character of a hero. And really, what is love? Is it going to the cross, when that's the only way to save a lost world, and a Father watching His Son die. And you bearing the pain of nursing your ailing husband, that's love, beautifully written dear girl, blessings, Roy

I'm so sorry for your loss. I remember seeing how the effects of cancer had on my Nan a few a years ago and it still makes me upset remembering. I thought your piece was really well written.

Today is somewhat different as it appears to you, it seems neither joyful nor lovable or full of light, still she makes you one to two after the dancing with her; well said, well done; thanks for sharing this. ALCREATOR
