Yes, Marjon! The happy surrounding world which once was going on swirling against current it does not spin clockward anymore . The world is cracking around with little stops and than again it starts falling apart without ending any more. Daily life becomes unbearable because both cannot believe to what is happening one to the other and Sometime that fired ring of loved beloved is at its edges but suddenly something changed again and then pity and compassion takes advantages of all and soft dry tears cannot furrow your worn out cheers any more. I love the incipit of the first stanza which is superb it itself!

Yes. This was a particularly painful day. The negativity overwhelmed. The guilt arising that would keep one from confronting the necessarily changing feelings. Gives personal meaning to "there is a fate worse than death."
Lovely description of this turmoil. Many will relate and feel understood.
Well done!
Lucy

You were brave here and I know a similar journey and it is hard to walk that path and still smile, especially when you have no control over the changes and can't see the light, a powerful write here Marjon, love Dolly x

It is such a heartbreak for the caregiver to see the decline of their loved one, Marjon. You did a great job putting your thoughts into words to share. What you felt I would consider normal. Too often one tries to put on a brave face. But there comes a time when one has no more to give and the hurt can't be hidden.
My sincere condolences.
Respectfully, Jan

I like the sound of what you say in here about that land of dreams...very nice line, from the deep of a loving heart. Nice sentiments expressed in here...we don't need to be perfect to be loved.

Aw, Marjon, that is so sad. I can quite understand. How can a person continue to love someone who is not the person they fell in love with, but who is now a complete stranger? When did this person remove your beloved husband and swap places with him. Of course you would know, and it's not wrong to have such thoughts. You are now a full time carer, unpaid and hard working. Once you accepted that, you could go on without feeling the guilt. Such a sad stage to get to, but understandable. Warm hugs, my friend. xxx Sandra

A very well-written heartfelt poem about a loved one who drifting further and further away from you not even knowing who you are, he only sees a stranger who is always there to give him the attention he demands.

It is very difficult to love anyone who is no longer loving us back. The one-sided love becomes very draining and heartbreaking. We want to keep our commitment, so we carry on.

Hello, Marjon,

Good descriptive words and imagery. Living with someone you love with Alzheimer must be very hard. Your husband was lucky to have you.

Well done,

Gypsy
