This is very interesting, Sandra. There are many mysterious creatures on the bottom of the ocean and the Sea Urchin
happens to be one of them. Many of the creatures are hidden and dangerous some are beautiful, but deadly. Best to let them be for ones own safety. Well done.xxx Nancy:)

I feel that I have just attended a lecture on Sea Urchins and have been educated on a most interesting life form I had only fleetingly hear about and cared not one bit about. That has all changed due in large part to what I have just been taught. I have a five year old great grand son and another due to be born in about a month from now, when your book is completed, I hope to purchase it and begin their education using all the animalks you will have written about. Thank you for the education.

As usual, an interesting selection of facts, perhaps the most telling of which is the effect of global warming, which is causing a significant shift in the natural balance. I wonder why little boys are also sometimes called urchins! LOL

The effect on many of the animals I've featured for this book, are suffering because of the global warming. We don't realise until years later what we are doing. I picked up some small points but feel free to ignore any you don't agree with:
They can still sense when danger's near,
regardless of its size. - 'they' doesn't match 'its'. So 'It can' and 'its size' or 'They can' and 'their size'
Scientists believe they have light sensors all over their bodies and along their spines which detect light, and sense nearby predators, or anything that might harm them. - I might have rearranged this 'Scientists believe they have light sensors which detect light all over their bodies and along their spines, and sense nearby predators, or anything that might harm them.' I might have put a period after 'spines' and made the rest a separate sentence.
Flower urchins look lovely, but some can be highly poisonous, it's best to leave them alone if you're not sure. - I might have put a period after 'poisonous'
After researching several sites to discover how many urchin species there are in our oceans, the varied answers appear to be anywhere between 200 and 950, which is very confusing. - delete 'there'
Urchins have claw-like devices on the surface of their bodies, scattered among the spines. - I might have rearranged this. Perhaps 'On the surface of their bodies, urchins have claw-like devices scattered among the spines.'
Even though they are covered in sharp spines, they have many predators. Man being amongst them. - replace period with a comma

Sea pollution and overfishing (over fishing) are major threats to the survival of sea urchins, and due to their drastic reduction in the wild, that are placed on the threatened species list, and could very likely become endangered in the near future.

Carribean. My husband stepped on one and had an infected foot for some time. This is certainly a great presentation with wonderful information. Even the painting! They are just about the most ugly thing I have ever encountered. It is such a mystery when we see all these different forms, as to the meaning. Well done.
