Hi Sandra, sorry to be late...but I was on the road...
I am now in Texas...my life was getting boring..so I thought I would come for the hurricanes...Laura is the worst looking one...
tell Graham his Urchins are so cute...made me smile...
you could have used unicorns...but I guess you would have really had to do some research for the picture...LOL...
you did a great job my amazing friend...but they are rather creepy guys...your descriptions are awesome...

You're near Hurricane Laura? Oh, my word, Linda, you do have such fun! I do hope it doesn't come near you. It looks like America is having a real rough time again, what with California and the fires. I'm worried about my Californian Vultures! (read next letter) Are you staying there for a while? I get lost when I read where you are at any given time. LOL, so it would never do for me to try driving over to see you, I'd get to you the day after you'd left for another state! Lol.
Thank you, darling lady for this lovely review and all the stars. I've been busy trying to finish the alphabet and put it to bed. I have four left to do. Then, I intent to go back to fiction, researching true facts is such hard work!!
Please let me know that you and your family are okay and haven't been hit by your hurricane. Reminds me of a certain political figure. Who would have thought that the "D" was descended from a sea urchin.
Poor Aristotle, after all his great thoughts, he's now remembered as the mouth of a sea urchin. Life just isn't fair.
Your notes and pictures are wonderful. One suggestion:
"What I did discover was they live in all our oceans in depths of 5,000 metres in our oceans." You don't need the second "in our oceans."
It seems the tentacles of climate changes are everywhere.
Excellent art work (though it does look a bit like a pin cushion) and poem.

I had to laugh about poor Aristotle, at least he's mentioned more often than he would have been if his name hadn't been attributed to the mouth of the urchin! Lol. I've stepped on this sea creature more than once (in Jamaica), and OUCH! But I had no idea they were a threat in California... :( And that sea stars are dying off doesn't surprise me, as our oceans are in dire need -- humankind NEEDS to get its act together!!!

Aw, thank you so very much, Dawn, for the six stars and the fabulous review! It's nearly finished, V goes on later and then just four left to do. You're not the only one to have stood on an urchin, one reviewer told me she fell in the shallow water and landed on a bed of them, and she had loads of spines in her stomach! She was quite poorly for a few days. I've decided the sea isn't for me anymore! What with Jaws, and urchins..... Thank you again, my dear friend, have a lovely day! :)) Sandra xxx

Oh, yeah I remember my unfortunate encounter with a sea urchin in Greece when I felt and my tommy landed straight into a "sea" of them. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the next chapter.

OH!! I bet that hurt! I've never been near one, as far as I know, but some on here have told me about their painful experience of standing on one, to fall on loads of them, that must have been agony!

They really are fascinating - I'd love to see how an otter opens it up to eat it as those spines seem very sharp. Their underside, their mouth - is actually a bit frightening!

What a very long-lived creature -- i had no idea! ;) Those stars in CA, did they ever discover the real cause? Remember some talk of an extra warm El Nino (La Nina?) that affected the sea temp near the coast and on the reefs, but didn't know if it was ever resolved... aaaanyway, that's neither here nor there for your awesome offering for 'U', my lady! ;) They really are some WIDE variety of colors and shapes... oh, and they hurt for like forever (to quote a younger me) when stepped on - lol!! ;) Great one, Sandra -- only FIVE more!! ;) Thanx for sharing! ;) Yvette

If anyone did find out what disease it was that killed so many sea stars, I couldn't find it in any of my research. But it was that, and an El Niņo, that caused over 90% of the sea stars to melt. That happened in 2016 and many other sea life starved to death. I remember one year when we were living in Spain, the temperature soared to 45 degs and killed many of our pond fish because it sucked the air out of the water. We managed to save a few once we saw what was happening. If this global warming keeps up we could end up losing a lot more in our oceans.

I confess that this has been my least entertaining of your abc of animals, but only because Urchins don't have a brain or eyes! That said, they are really interesting, and I am yet again in awe of your research and information. I do hope Eric appreciates how much research you have done, and appreciates your (and Graham's efforts) to make this as interesting and well illustrated as you have. Well done!

Sandra, I reviewed your "T" chapter and thought it was great. However, your "u" chapter I think is even a bit better. I don't know how that is possible but you did it. The things you pulled into this chapter were great. Learning level was high enough for older children, but colorful enough for the very young. Great job.
