This reminded me of my journey too and caring for someone who is terminally ill is an arduous task that I did with a big smile, I could identify with your words Marjon, love Dolly x

Dear Marjon, this poem like others that you have written, transcends place and time. It carries within it, universal truths and feelings that will alway be, no matter where they are written.

Suzanna, thank you so very much. I am, as always by you, so lovely reviewed. I already nominated you this month, I'd like to do it again.

This is really sensitive and fine. It is like the dregs in the bottom of the Bordeaux glass being poured into a Burgundy glass, that the remaining aromas may accumulate and be appreciated. Even the flecks of grape flesh may be cherished as part of the experience. Saving the best for last.
Many people disdain and discard "dregs." The end of things. To cherish what was good to the end, is admirable indeed.
This author has both the ability to express an essence of joy, passion, appreciation, and the ability to extract an essence of joy, passion, and appreciation from circumstances that would leave most in a state of depression.
These qualities are uplifting to the reader.
Well done!

More powerful if "failing" changed to "frailing."

This is so filled with compassion - The small things that mean so much - the comparison to the caring of a child... the words in bed, quietly whispered... and that last line - the folding away... So carefully penned. I am behind in a few and will get to them tomorrow. So sad, so beautiful.

It is quite amazing how much care you showed at such a moment when weaker souls would have given up. You stood by his side and gave the care and love he so needed. Thanks for letting us into your life.

That really hits home, Marjon. It seems the long nights never end. Those are the toughest, especially when you can't sleep. To listen to his gentle breathing, waiting for the next one to come, wanting to nudge him to make it come quicker. It seems the winter months bring forth the hardest times. Another well written part to this sad time in both your lives. Sandra xx

A very well-written heartfelt poem about seeing a lived one slowly deteriorating is the hardest thing we can ever be asked to do. I was fortunate that my husband died instantly from a heart attack without a long time of suffering.

That is also sad, but at least, as you said, not after a long suffering.
    Thank you for this review.

I will have to give a virtual six because no actual ones are left. I used to be a hospice volunteer and have spent a lot of time with caregivers and survivors. No departure from this life is without an affect on somebody else...especially loved ones. The end-process is heartbreaking. Your second verse is particularly poignant and so meaningful for those whose lives are fading away day by day. I can relate strongly to this and I am so glad you shared itwith FanStory readers.

I particularly liked these two lines:
Raising a child is carrying someone into this demanding world.
Carrying a loved-one out comes in a later phase.
Another example of how things go full circle over time.
Cheers

Beautifully written again Marjon, it would be tough, but one can never share the pain with others, only empathise, but never really knowing it's depth or length or weight, only that it's wearing and devastation. Beautifully written, blessings, Roy
