It is very interesting poem. First I thought you were really there in a sailboat sailing around the world. Then I realize this is a Fantasy poem. I actually visited Lisbon and really like it. I highly recommend a visit there.
I published a novel called "Last Kiss In Tiananmen Square" and you reviewed the Prologue. Other chapters are quite different. I introduced many characters, the ones I met when I grew up in China and in Peking University. That was written about 30 years ago. Now I write travel related fantasies, too. My "Goodbye, Nice" was quite popular here and two other stories. I won the first place in Thriller and Horror with my Haunted Castle which was set in a real castle in southern Germany that a relative owns. I will promote these stories again.

Thank you for the excellent review and for your comments supporting the poem. I think your novel has promise but this is a huge story and a big undertaking that will require lots of work. I have been working on my novel about WWI and WWII for eleven years. estory

Thank you very much for your comments for my novel. The good news is Last Kiss In Tiananmen Square has been published since 2011 and the second edition came out in 2018. I have a publishing group called Myrdinn Publishing that has authors all over the world. I have 13 reviews already on Amazon. I have written two the books and one of them "Chinese Lolita" will come out soon. I just need to work on it more. I spent too much time on FanStory now. I'm still working as a software engineer and will quit soon.

This is EXACTLY what I do when I go to the ocean.
I've been to the Emerald Isle...beautiful.
I always wonder what's next, and next, and next.
I search for messages in bottles.
The ocean is just such possibility!
Wonderful!
Blessings...

Thanks for the excellent review and your wonderful comments on the poem. Messages in bottles...I didn't think of that when I was writing this. Probably should have included it...it would make a great image of imagination and adventure! estory

Hi estory, I loved this wonderful free verse poem that sees all those far away places as something totally out of reach. It puts a smile on my face, because I've sailed to all those places in my thirty footer sailing boat. I don't really live that far away from it all. Only a few hundreds miles. It's strange how one man's reality is another man's dream.
Again, I loved your poem. Ulla:)))

Thanks so much for your wonderful excellent review and your continued support of my poetry. I am glad you enjoyed the poem and that it could take away on this journey of imagination. Whenever I stand on the shore of the Atlantic, I find myself wondering what is on the other side, out there in the wild, blue yonder. That's what i wanted to create in this poem. estory

And you managed that!!!

Another beautiful offering of your home and favorite place, though well traveled. It is a beauty among the earth. Your rich descriptions are so authentic and make this a pleasure to read.
Sending you my best today as always,

Thanks so much for all the support and I am glad you enjoyed this journey of imagination. I wanted to capture that feeling I have when i stand on the shore of the Atlantic and find myself wondering what mysteries of place and person lie on the other side. estory

Your poetry stirs the imagination; "on the edge of something wild and immense" we can feel overwhelmed by the vastness of the world and all the places we may never see. You mention exotic places we've mostly heard of in stories - some travel does indeed take bravery, and there is the background fear (or titillation) "Who can tell if you will ever return?"
I have had the experience of seeing most of these places, even getting quite close to Timbuktu when travelling down through Algeria, and believe me, travel can be awful as well. Travelling by imagination is much more comfortable! and there is always a toilet handy!
As you have proved, an imagination running wild does need a degree of experiential living to feed off, even if the stimulus is provided by your immediate environs instead of actually seeing a bazaar.

Thanks so much for the excellent review and your wonderful perspective. I always enjoy reading what experiences the poems conjure up for people, what memories, what feelings. Its great when they take flight like this and become different things to different people. estory

Dolly of Dolly's poems lives on the Canary island Tenerife for England's winter, and then back in England for its summer. I agree with you regarding the pondering, it seems I was born I dreamer, although well travelled, when young I would dream a lot, and I've never really stopped, but I ponder my own failings, and discover a lot about humankind, one has to be familiar with those things, to be tolerant of others. But I pondered the things you ponder when young. Beautifully written, you are a most reflective person, well done, beautifully written,

Good Morning, estory!
Ah! The wonders of imagination, adventuring, and travel. I, too, have stood on the shore and gazed beyond dreaming of what lies over the horizon... What is there about leaving the confines of the known that calls time and again?
Beautiful imagery!
Thank you for sharing!

A very well-written free verse about wondering what lies beyond what our eyes can see, we know of countries and islands that are in that direction but we are not all fortunate to visit them, and we can only dream about them.

This poem, Outer Banks part 4: Voyages, takes the poet to the extremes of Eastern America and stretches with imagination across the ocean to new extremes which exist beyond the current limits.
