Another wonderful post. I loved that repeating refrain, 'Step lightly on your memory' there's this sense of remembering, but also of moving on there, and not wanting to forget, or wanting to remember the good times, and not the bad. Once again lovely colorful images dot this piece; the windowframe holding that bright blue, hopeful sky; a sense of hope, but also of confined space all in one moment. That mighty oak quivering also is an image of both strength and permanence as well as fragility all in one. I love the sense of emotion surging under the surface, in a subtle fashion. estory

Thanks a lot Estory, for the review. With the title, I wanted to give the impression of careful, light, precise steps and movements, like a ballet dancer. "Step lightly..."

Your poem is pretty much one big analogy of how sadness feels and how to deal with it? I noticed there was a phrase you kept repeating, "step lightly on your memory" meaning there was a single event that caused all of this.

Thank you Ben, for your review. You saw that this is a poem in a whole series. In A Silent Cry (portfolio) you find an introduction of this series, which explains it all clearly, I think.

Your mettle shows quite clearly in your dedicated purpose in caring for Carlos single handedly for the duration. Not many can do what you have done.

Rebecca, thanks for the review.

hello,
the ballet analogy fits in nicely with the poem ...I used to teach history of theatre to a class of ballet students ...they always seemed to be perfect and thin.

Thank you for this review. With the title I wanted to give an idea of light-weight, careful and precise movements, like ballet dancers.

"A perfect slant falls upon my cheek,
remember your fingers
trails etched over half my life."...
so very lovely. This poem's three repetions of "Step lightly on your memory" is perfect ...

I love the repeating line to 'step lightly on my memory'. Our memories are so often the most valuable component of our lives. This is softly and beautifully written.

This poem, Jete Plie, gives the reader a sense of the sadness as a life moves on from where it was the happiest to where it is now.
