Who is 'they' anyways? :) :) LOL! ;) A great addition to your book of wisdom, my lady -- taking pleasure in the simple amidst all this chaos! ;) Thanx for sharing! ;) Yvette

Iza,
Your words are filled with truth and wisdom.
it sometimes takes a lifetime to learn the true value
of material things.
I am involved in community service, helping the less
fortunate. This brings me much happiness.
Blessings,
Richie

I enjoyed your chapter, Iza. You did a great job expressing your thoughts and feelings. I love your examples of what happiness means to you. I can't pick just one, or I would have to copy the whole post.
Thanks for sharing. [work hard to get it (them)].

Respectfully, Jan

The difference between happiness and joy. Joy is of the joy of knowing God, it is a fruit of the Spirit, of a condition that is with you all the time, (Galatians 5:22-23) whereas, happiness is circumstantial, (winning the lottery, a birthday celebration, a visit from a friend, a sunny morning) beautifully written, Iza, blessings, Roy

It's the little things, the simple, natural things, that is the gist of your essay. The things we take for granted in the mad pace of our social media workaholic consumer driven world. We are so caught up with keeping up with the Joneses that we forget what originally made us happy. Those walks on the shore. the smell of cut grass. Sunlight in the early morning. Sunsets. Stars at night. Alot of my poetry is about that. estory

Might be best to say "try to keep my eyes open". Cause you don't blink closed eyes.

Change "with" maybe put (them with). I would take out sensations. So it reads: replaced them with cheap imitations of the real thing.

No s on material

Take out "to" after happiness

This could be a great five star piece once you proof read it over and make small changes. I will change rating then if you like. Message me.

Hi Vanna, I reviewd my chapter, and there is no need to change your ratings:) I am not writing for the gold medal, so any grammar corrections are gladly accepted. In my defense, English is my third language:) Thank you for your understanding.

I like your reflection on happiness. I think I would use different words for it. The ephemeral feeling of happiness is "happiness." But the "fire in the soul" from God - that is "Joy." We can have "Joy" even when we're unhappy about covid. And finally, that intention to be happy despite our circumstances, I call that "contentment." See? English has a huge vocabulary for a reason!
