-I appreciate the map and
story, Bill.
-It's not easy doing all of
these states, but you
manage to share things of interest.
-I like the bit about your aunt
and the muu muu; I remember that trend!
-Your daughter and son-in-law must
have enjoyed the island.
-Thanks for sharing about your
military experience there.
-Did all branches of the service
use C-5's by then?
-I am guessing "I" states will be next,
although there's no I in "states!"

C-5s are used by the AF which carries everybody everywhere.
Prepare for the madness which is Idaho.

I knew they were used by the Air Force, but didn't know if other services had started using them. I guess they were flown and taken care of by the Air Force for other military units. I will look forward to your Idaho madness!

LOL!! :) Well, even in your 'lack of personal observation', sir, you definitely keep us entertained and reading through with your personal humor laced throughout! ;) Thanx for sharing, Bill! ;) Yvette

This was an interesting State to look at. On our way to Thailand we had a one day layover in Hawaii and got to ride a boat from the mainland to an island. Did not get off the boat.

Great sense of humor in this one, Bill. Like: " I mean -- all the time. I'd describe it as a table cloth with a neck hole."
And: "Don Ho had passed away a decade before, so his show probably wasn't that great." LOL
I have been to Hawaii twice. Once on a three-week honeymoon in 1999, then again five years ago, minus Don Ho who we saw the first time. He was cool btw. LOL
Good write, my friend. You got screwed though.
Maui is worth every minute I was there. :) Bob

It's a shame you couldn't see more of the state. It looks to be very beautiful. A friend of mine from Hawaii said it's very expensive to live there. Your story is well-written, interesting start to finish. I look forward to reading more.

Hi Bill, I liked this very much, because it was different. You've seen something there that hardly anybody would know anything about. It's easy enough to go to all the turistic places on the island. I found your chapter very interesting, and well written. Ulla:)))

I remember the rage of muu-muus. A lot of us wore them in the summer. I wish they'd make a comeback. I've never been to Hawaii and never had a desire to go. You've reinforced my thinking.

In July 1961 I landed at the big airport in Hawaii, we spent four hours in the terminal as we were forbidden to leave. After re boarding we would fly to Wake Island for another layover and then spend the next nearly two days flying over the Pacific ocean to the island of Okinawa. On December 31, 1962, I would make the same trip with the same layovers in reverse order as I left Okinawa for duty in Grand Forks North Dakota, one of the darkest periods of my life. I love this series, I will be sad when it ends.

Dear Bill, a blunt but honest assessment of standard military practice ( particularly for guys with your rank and rating )
As for this post, I noticed several Marine expressions that may need Definitions in your Author's notes.
#1 Jar heads ( probably meaning 'officers' , but not sure)
#2 Helmet fire ( maybe a 'big to do' but just guessing)."
The bit about your daughter and Don Ho (humorous )
The description of your aunt's moo moo (hilarious)
Other comments questionable. Obama's social security number is from Connecticut. and his Father bragged about his being born in the father land, Kenya.

Jarhead is a nickname for Marine. Helmet fire is a problem that needs solving. Thanks for pointing that out.

You need to go back - when the pandemic is over, of course. I am so sad you only experienced it a few hours. At least, your daughter got to enjoy the Big Island - a real taste of Hawaii. Kaneohe is where the state's mental institute is. It's good you didn't adventure out too much there.
