You speak of this sense we have sometimes that obligations fill up all our time; our parents expect us to achieve what they want us to achieve, our teachers expect us to raise their profiles, our lovers expect us to make them the center of our universe. Then we finally get a chance to live for ourselves, when all these other people around us give us some space, death comes knocking and our chance is gone. It is a fatalistic viewpoint of life but valid in some respects; also it fits in with that cynical sense of humor that comes sometimes from Eastern Europe. There are some grammatical issues here in tenses of verbs: "The kids grow up leaves : leave the nest." "Treat them as prince or princess : as A prince or princess" "Every penny they get invest in: every penny they get THEY invest in". estory

(typos: pilling s/b piling; every penny they get invest s/b they invest every penny; leaves the best s/b nest; rate of returns come s/b rate ... comes) This rings my bell! Since Coronella's reign I have become rebellious; to compensate for being compelled to wear masks, I refuse to do anything else I don't want to do. Good work on this rant! Cheers. LIZ

"You are left like a broken shell by the road. You have nothing left to offer. You close your eyes and think: now I can live for myself, finally!"
All this depends on family education:want you give you will get my dear Iza! I live with my children's family happily together in the house that I have built and distributed to them but I am still the head of the family, you can be sure! A great provocative thought!

This is a good piece of wisdom you have imparted to us. Thank you for sharing. I always think of such behaviour as being selfish, so my tendency is to avoid it where possible. Obviously, I need to change my attitude.

We get into this life with no expectation(s)

- needs to be plural.

and the moment we stepped out from our mother's womb

- I doubt even Jesus stepped out of Mary. Perhaps, came out

I am sharing this with my dear reader because I want (you) to know this: Please, stop living your life for

- missing word.

they expect you to treat them as (a) Prince or Princess,

- missing

Crying you protest:" I live my life for

- should be

Crying you protest, "I live my life for

Maybe you should change: The parents, The grandparents and so on to, My parents, My teachers

Expectations are not the same for everyone.

Lastly, this isn't a general fiction prose. It is commentary philosophy

You are correct there are many expectations in life; actually responsibilities and it can get to be a drag on one's psyche when resisted. It takes a lifetime to go with the flow and that is when you become the center. Death is a freeing of the soul. This was an interesting read with a moral. giovanni
