The comparison of the footprints in the sand and being washed away and dimentia is absolutely perfect. "I see my footprints for awhile. Water washes... This poem sets the pace for me, how "silence works in your body..." how time just seems to pause and stretch...

I'm so sorry for the illness. And for sharing another of your poems that give a glimpse of the birds, the sand on the beach, and reassurance that even in the hard times, a short time away can help some. Thanks for sharing.

Your descriptive, heart-wrenching poem conveys a moving message about how much a quiet walk and the sight of normal things can comfort someone whose daily life is tiring and heart-breaking, caring for a severely ill person.

A very well-written heartfelt poem about the toll it takes for the body and mind of the care giver who needs time away from her duties to keep sane and refresh herself.

To be held inside this vacuum, your only escape is to feel the freedom of the beach and give you time to reflect. Your poem explains how you rest from thinking and just feel the sea breeze that somehow cleanses you, much enjoyed and I am so sorry about your situation, love Dolly x

Dolly, thank you so much for your review. I am a widow now for two years, and have adjusted to this new situation. Getting to be a happy person again.

Hello Marjon, my friend, you compel the reader to feel your pain in this poignant poem with unique phrases, "Silence works in my body until I stop thinking,"-so original; thank you for sharing and please take care.

Dear Marjon, Thank God you had this resource to help you keep your sanity and as you so poetically put it,
"mend your heart"
The words most memorable to me are these :
"silence works in my body, until I stop thinking ."

I hear the pain in the poem as you attempt to deal with this heartbreak of losing you husband slowly as the days pass. I'm sure anyone who deals with being a caretaker must feel the same. You express it well.

It hasn't been long since Carlo's death, so the memory must be still raw. Ant the thought, almost of rejection must have been horrendous, Elaine and I, have great parallels of thought, one's not alone with that, it's so good to have a oneness of mind, bless you Marjon, thank you for this. Blessings Roy
