I like this very much and read it several times, trying to make sure I was grasping the full measure of all you were wanting to. The awakening soul, peering down the passage into eternity's promise, is how I like to read it, and it is, to me, a wonderful image. I hope this is not incorrect. It is a lovely tanka and will do well in this contest, I'm sure. Best wishes. MM

Love the image- it caught my attention. Your poem in its entirety reminds me of that moment of calm. If I interpret correctly, perhaps there's chaos around but in that brief moment, we are calm and remember to have Faith in the trial. We know that we have a bigger purpose and that all will be well.
