Marjon,
Your poems are a teaching guide on how life changes
and the ability to cope with that change.
Your strength was aided by spiritual graces to see you
through. The mystery of Carlo's illness will be revealed to
you some day. There will be compassion and understanding
to heal you and place joy back in your life.
Many Blessings,
Richie

Thank you, Richie, for your compassionate review. I know I had guidance from the Lord. That, combined with my love for Carlo and my promise to him that I would care for him until the end, made that I could do it for three long years. I thank God for that daily.

This is such a beautiful sad book you're writing, Marjon. How I feel for you, how I wish someone could have held your hand, hugged you. But the secret is to put on a show that everything is fine, you're alright, and so is he. Mine wasn't a mental loss, mine was cancer that took my hubby away. We live a lie. A life of pretend. Another excellent poem of your sad and hurtful times. Sandra xxx

"It's late and getting dark,
let me carry your lamp now
along the stormy path." How powerful is this. Just gorgeously strong. My favorite so far. And they are all good!

Another powerful poem of the perseverance of love, the steadfastness in it, the compassion that drives it. That one simple image of holding the lamp for your husband speaks realms about taking the reins from someone who can no longer hold them; out of compassion, out of love. I loved the last line too; Remember world, when I am dead, that I loved. The single most important thing, the meaning of life, I think, is that we are here to learn how to love. estory

Dear Marjon, every time you post one of these poems I know I am going to cry because they are so pain filled.
If I would have to pick what I liked best about this post, it would be the last stanza.

A very well-written heartfelt poem about the changes in a marriage when the one partner is sick and the other have to take care f their partner. It is not an easy role for the caregiver.

This work has reached the exceptional level

Four beautiful well written stanzas permeated of a delicate and melancholic lament for a life's long lost beloved which has been lived with all its ups and down joys and dolorous moments, perfectly described within its metaphorical carrying lamp. I love it. Great work indeed!

Reading this leads to question unanswered I can respect the privacy, with the available information I deduced it's part of the series for a book or from a book. I seem to remember reading a previous poem from A Silent Cry in which case it seems to fit that series. Blessings to you.

I think all married couples start out feeling they will be together in love, steadily growing closer in mind and spirit, forever. It never occurs to them that disease can destroy that relationship.

A very beautiful poem. As they say, it is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. It is hard to lose a loved one but our memories live on. Thanks for sharing this with us.
