Great job with this free verse! My favorite part was the lines about the power tie -- "wearing a swordsman's
chainmail into the boardroom battle
to prevent being
eviscerated in a struggle!"
Such a great way to describe that work environment and dress code!

-This is an excellent poem
with good examples and
a smooth flow of ideas.
-It is also creative.
-I like the verse about
"that perfect power tie."
-The transitions are very good
as you move from ties to
'How things do pass" and
the ego associated with
"gentleman's pocket square's."
-An excellent conclusion, too.
-One small thing [squares]
-Very well done, and

I enjoyed your free verse on ties. Your lines read well with good flow, some alliteration, good formatting of lines, and great imagery. I really liked the lines about the bolo. Of course, I'm from Texas.

Men's ties often made not only a fashion statement but gave off a vibe and character, as a tie was either appropriate or rather inappropriate and often men were judged on this choice! I even remember my husband commenting on another man's tie as a bad choice! Here you throw in the ties of family at the end which has a much more serious connotation, a fun post, love Dolly x

Out of sixes, my friend. this one deserves a six for sure. Good job, jim. It has a "free n' Easy feel to it" If that make any sense. I liked this stanza the best, Jim:

Mike, thank you so much and I put a stint in the hot sun one summer as a hot tar roofer, made it very easy to stay in college, LOL

Dear JLR, what a unique and interesting perspective you have selected for this Free Versers Event. I guess it is not so strange for a man to think about his ties like a women thinks about her hair or lipstick color.
