Who the heck told you that. I think that's the heart of any writer. Is taking their life story and turning that into many stories fact and fictional. Anyway, I enjoyed this life story. I think your writing is solid. This flows easily and was very interesting. The use of dialogue worked well at bringing this to life and I would encourage more of that. Great job.

There's a distinction to be made between writing your life story, and writing a story from your life. Snippets (the correct spelling) are one thing. A memoir or autobiography is something else all together. I agree with the speaker. Most 'life stories' are of little interest to the general reading public. But that doesn't denigrate normal lives.
Your lawnmower story is engaging, and interesting.
