First of all, I make no claim to having any facility for critique. All I can offer are my honest impressions and ideas.

"A Silent Cry" is a moving tribute to both Carlo and to you as well. The collection steadfastly conveys the overarching sadness and hollow horror of the whole torturous experience that Alzheimer's creates. You've tread a fine line by not lapsing into pathos which must've often been a threat, and instead preserved a telling dignity where it was always ever so gradually being lost. I suppose that is the art of what you've accomplished.

Although your command of English reduces my fumbling Nederlands to pretty much non-existent, I did notice a few points where I think your non-native English facility shows just slightly. If you care at all about those few really tiny instances, let me know and I'll point them out.

Lastly, I'm a bit confused which of course is my natural state. The first page of "A Silent Cry" indicates a compilation of thirty poems, but I was only able to find twelve included. Where did I go wrong?

I absolutely welcome your reviewing the Silent Cry poems. Any comment you have about my possible errors in English are also very welcomed!
You have seen twelve poems now, because I only posted twelve until today. Every day or two days I post one more, until the series are complete.
Thanks again, I feel most grateful.

My beautiful friend. Yes some day I believe one day I will travel to Australia and meet you
reply by the author on 03-Aug-2020
Hi! If you go to Australia to meet me, you will be a long distance away! Mallorca (where I live) is an island in the Mediterranean sea; and belongs to Spain. I hope to meet you one day. It all seems so difficult now, with the Corona-virus, traveling is practically impossible.

I like your words, it is not fiction, it is all frightening real. Honesty...Many time we try to cover our diseases and difficulties; we all search for that perfect piece of pie. Your writing, your words are penetration, no mask in here.

Marjon, I am Dior it took so long for me to answer. Alzheimer's is a terrible disease, I know because my mom had it when she was 80. She died at 86. She fought to live, then her heart gave out. I know some of what you went through. So sorry for your loss.
Prayers,
Cindy

A Silent Cry
by Marjon van Bruggen

Hello, Marjon,

Alzheimer disease is so horrible. I wonder if your husband knew what was going on. He was lucky to have you until the end. Well done, a beautiful poem and a wonderful book.

This is a great introduction for your pieces Marjon. I'm sorry for your loss but I am glad that you had this great idea to be able to vent all of your emotions about your situation with regarding your husband and his Alzheimer's disease. Can't wait to read these pieces. Great job with explaining your concepts for this project.

Justin, thanks so much for this great review. 12 of the poems for this book were already posted. I will refer to them in the series A Silent Cry, but I will not repeat them, as that is against the rules of FS, If you are interested, you can find: BLUE-HUED (16-2), LOCKING-UNLOCKING (17-2), ONLY A SMALL DEATH (19-2), BROKEN SUNRAYS (23-2), FROM A NEAR DISTANCE (3-4), ANGER, POSTPONED (13-4), ALONE (21-4), DIAMOND DUST (27-4), SCENT OF HERBS (30-4), CORNERED (13-5), FLUID THOUGHTS (26-5) and ICARUS (31-5) all in my portfolio. As you can see, I indicated the date of posting. Take a look, please, to get an idea. I don't remember your name with the reviewers, so I think you didn't see them yet.

I really look forward to your book; it has some relevance to me because my mother died of Alzheimer's five years ago. It is a terrible disease in that it takes away your relationship with someone you love. I remember also the fear in my mother's eyes sometimes, the feeling that she did not know what was happening to her. The last time I saw her, she was lucid for maybe one day out of six. She had stopped eating and my sister was keeping her alive by protein drinks. She weighed about 80 pounds. When she stopped drinking in November, she died the Sunday before Thanksgiving. That was the hardest thing I had to go through in my life. estory

Thank you so much for this review. 12 poems belonging to the series A Silent Cry have been posted in FS before. I will refer to them, but I am not allowed to repeat them. There are though, many new ones. They will appear here in a chronological order. I think one every two days. I hope you will like them.

A very well-written introduction to your proposed plan to open up the caretaker's point of view to take care of someone with Alzheimer's. It us not an easy task but you made it to tell us about the experience.
