This comes at a time when I've been contemplating what to say to a daughter of mine about a disagreement we had recently. That is who I would talk with on this red bench. Thank you.

Thank you or taking the time to review my entry ..

My mamma and I were in the midst of a silly squabble which had been going on for several days ... then on the fourth day I got a phone call from my papa ? telling me that my mamma had had a massive heart attack and had passed away ..

I learnt that it s best to deal with what ever issues there are ( even the smallest) sooner than later ..

So I really hope you can sort your differences out soon .

It still hurts today after 16 years.

    Keep safe!

I believe the poem is more intriguing with the bench empty. You and I have never been intimate, so why do you care who I'd choose anyway?

the poem read on its own was just a way to spark the reader s imagination..

Up to now you are the only one that read the title as well and ...

...In that case the poem takes on a deeper meaning ...it s asking the reader to do some introspection - on private -love - family matters but for themselves ... and for their own benefit...

No fear I was not trying to pry...

How interesting.
An hour could be as long as a piece of string.
I ruled out obviously impossible people such as Harper Lee or Einstein (I am not feeling totally insane today), and went for a hero. Neglected Stephen King as I saw in an interview he isn't very articulate orally. Instead I chose my daughter who is extremely witty and can talk a stream.

Thank you for reviewing my post .. it has been interesting to see the various choices ..

I love To Kill A Mockingbird .. I love Scout..

Often , the people closest to us are the ones we don t really manage to spend the amount of time we would like to ...

...it s summer so I hope you get that hour on the bench with your daughter.

    Ciao and keep safe!

I am going to have an unexpected five days with my daughter visiting her grandparents. We will have plenty of time to sit on that bench.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

CIAO POET: What an exhilarating question! Time and time again...our God said to me: "Rhonnie, I place before you...two choices...Life or Death. CHOOSE LIFE." Then He said to me: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. CHOOSE ME." Therefore I choose to talk with my creator for an hour on the bench. He said that I should enter His gates with. "THANKSGIVING." That being said...I'd thank Him for giving me my best friend...and let Him know just how happy He has made me by doing so. I gratefully thank you, poet for giving me the opportunity to express my heart to you. God bless you. Cordially: rhonnie69.

I feel I have seen this sentiment before, but kudos to putting it in this particular 5-7-5 format. Your graphics is beautiful and fits your poetic stanza perfectly. Good luck in the contest

So many good choices. Groucho Marx. Piet Hein. Mark Twain. Eric Hoffer. Pete Hamill. Dorothy Parker. The list is endless. The real question is, Who would want to converse with me on that bench?
Best of luck.

Peace, Lee

    Thats a vast assortment. A comedian, a poet, a philosopher, a writer, a journalist, a satirist
I confess I did have to look up several of these names( biggrin)

You post your work because you believe it can bring a smile, a laugh to someone...it can be of interest and engage the reader.

Lots of your entries have receive 6 star votes and numerous enthusiastic reviews ..means those people enjoyed your work ...they were in some way impressed , amused, even at times touched.

I read your last entry Super PowersDenied which caught me pleasantly off guard ..a brilliant conclusion ... covid is a curse ..it has cause so much disruption in people?s live ...but I honestly never thought of the one you brought so artfully to the reader?s attention ..

My mind was going all different direction .. I loved the twist...

    read .. Exploratory Surgery
that was very witty and made me laugh ..

I read Unless in Effigy.. a great poke at Mr.Trump... .. Maybe when he will be sent on his way a statue could be put up with the following inscription- admonishment :

    everything a President shouldn?t be.
( he didn?t make America great again)

All three entries were engaging ..

So to reply to your question I think there would be plenty of people that would enjoy having a chat with you on that bench.

    Ciao!

-Good artwork and
presentation.
-The syllable count is good,
along with the topic.
-I really like the premise of
your poem by asking a question.
-It stimulates the imagination.
-I would say Robert Frost; I
admire his writing, and how
he takes something simple, yet
writes in a complex way that
doesn't seem like it.
-A very good entry; good luck.

That was exactly what I had in mind ... get people?s imagination rolling ...

I was not acquainted with Robert Frost so out of curiosity I looked him up..

American poet who died in 1963.

He studied rural life , he would explain complex social and philosophical themes- aspects within that context.

I?m glad you found my entry engaging ..your review was the first of many ... everyone offered an answer to my question..

    Keep safe!
