I had a good chuckle over this entry. You have a way of hitting the nail on the head and saying it like it is my friend. This was very refreshing and I loved it. As far as I am concerned you have a winner. Good luck.

Andbutt! Andbutt!! LOL.
It's my only knock on this piece is I'm a stickler for starting multiple lines with and or but, BUT other than that I enjoyed this piece AND I'd certainly join you for a porch drink (social distancing intact) if I could. Thanks for sharing, later daze :)

nicely sums up the feeling of the covid enforced isolation and the toil it is having on all of us, and the impact of enforced social distancing which is alien to human nature - one of the most insidious aspect of the damn virus

Thank you. May I ask why only a 4 star rating.... suggested improvements?

I'd love to accept your warm hospitality, so beautifully expressed in your poem. Friendships and together times have had to be modified through social distancing and mask-wearing, not to mention impossibility of travelling (I live in New Zealand). A lovely poem, well rhymed, hints of humour, nostalgia, and regret.

Your poem has truth about the virus is a great way. Even though it has changed everything known, one still has to deal with it. I like the idea of porch sitting while social distancing. Your image is perfect for your well-chosen and expressed thought and feelings. I could see and feel everything your wrote.
Thanks for sharing and best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

Great rhyming poem. One for the times. We have done just what you suggest. Our daughter and son-in-law came to visit. They brought their own chairs and drinks and we sat on the front lawn and had a nice visit - social distancing of course. Can't wait until the coronavirus pest is in the past.
Well done.
Blessings

One of our number has come down with the virus, here on fanstory. A beautifully written poem as an entry in this rhyming poetry contest. Beautifully written, and a very current theme too, So articulately put together and a nice even flow, the abcb rhyme is perfect, good luck, blessings Roy

Your rimming message sign is an eye catcher
and your excellent sign with a terrific message. While you were keeping a good safe distant,
porch sitting with friends during Covid-19.
Wish you the best in the contest.

I love this poem because it is written so simply and with so much clarity. You have said what we are all feeling. Zoom is OK but I would really rather have someone just six feet away from me on the porch with or without masks and talk naturally and honestly and laugh. We are all missing so much. I refuse to accept a "new normal", I follow all rules but want the old normal back. Excellent writing, such simple emotion. Wonderful poem.

The author conveys the dilemna on friendship, burden and loneliness that the pandemic crisis has created on friendships. The poem purveys the essentialities of friendship and the need to communicate and associate during this crisis.
