Sandra, another winner! I thought I knew all about the porcupine, but now I know more. I loved your poem. In your prose fist of all, I he photos. But most of all how you explain the life of this little creature. I couldn't imagine the mothers letting the infants suckle for very long, ouch!
I can't wait for your next installment, Sandra.

I always look forward to your next letter of the alphabet and anticipate which animal you are going to present. This was particularly interesting. I'd love to see a porcupine dance. Is that considered foreplay? I might leave it at that!

Hello Sandra, Well done! You fooled me again. I was going for Penguin - but your writing about porcupines is brilliant. A good little poem and a stream of excellent information and pictures. You work hard and produce consistently good work that deserve a six. I'm not on FS at the moment - just peeped in and saw this. The porcupine would be pretty unpopular as a petting zoo. The Ps are well represented by this pointy fellow. Love the cartoon, poem, photos, and facts. The one about mating, I think, unless you cover it in the rest of the animals, is better left to joke time.

Hmm, yes, I think you are right there. I wouldn't be petting one, that's for sure. I agree with your about the mating part. I'm not adding it to my book, I haven't covered it in the others, because I don't see any reason to. I've had some tell me to put it at the back of the book, but I don't really see the sense in that. It's not going in and that's it! I like your question and answer best. LOL. Thanks again, Bill. :)) Sandra xx

In answer the question, how do they do it I have had to be satisfied with the stock answer, 'Carefully, very carefully,' and am now devastated to know that in the world of the porcupine size really does matter.

LOL!!!!! You are so funny. Thanks for your opinion on adding it to my book, I do agree with you. I'm the same when I write stories, I'm reluctant to go into detail when there is a romantic part, leaving it for the reader's imagination. Anyway, I'm sure there would be a lot of very jealous men out there if they knew how well-endowed the porcupine is. LOL!!

And what about that poor dog, I imagine it would need to be sedated before removing the quills. I saw the same on a horse on the Alaska program on TV. They had to tie it down before they removed dozens of quills from it's foot. Again a fantastic result that I'm sure your grandson will enjoy. Keep safe. ~Mel~ xx

I think my choice is 'Quokka' which I believe I've communicated about to you before when you did K for kangaroo. The only other one that comes to mind is Quail. I confess I don't know of any other for Q without going on line. ~mel~ xx
