A journey we all must eventually take, but not yet I hope, there is much to enjoy here on earth first. A well written and rhymed melancholy and tranquil write Tony, much enjoyed, love Dolly x

Thank you, Dolly. Not a journey that one likes to contemplate. Being an inveterate procrastinator, I'm hoping to put it off for quite a while yet.

I'm sure it was a glimpse of heaven. If it was Hell, you'd know. You wouldn't have to ask. I have the weirdest dreams too. In fact, Aaron's Dragons is based on one of them. I'm sure they are glimpses of something.

Thanks, Cindy. Love your review, and the bonus of a sixth star. Most images of heaven seem a bit dull to me - hence the question!

This write should be a contest entry ;) Beautiful, vivid word pictures and a great presentation for your thought-provoking poem. I love the feel of this, it's silken meanings showcased. Well done.

What a lovely review, Marcia. Thank you very much, both for that and for the sixth star. I hope you're keeping well. All good wishes, Tony

I like your poem, Tony, written with apparent confidence, like by someone who knows all about that stuff, in contrast to me, who doesn't have the foggiest idea of its meaning.
How about you? ;)

A very well-written poem about a journey of the mind between the stars that leads to a place where no one was before, we can either end up n heaven or in hell, the choice is ours.

I enjoyed coming along on your journey, but I am going to be presumptuous and say it was a glimpse of heaven. Hell would be too much to see these days, and all from a small boat without oars...nah, heaven it is lol! This is a beautiful poem, written in your signature style, loaded with lovely images and metaphor. Really great work Tony xoxoxox

Thanks, Gypsy. I appreciate your review and kind comments. Floating into nothingness seems like hell to me - especially in a boat! I'm no sailor! LOL

Life of Pie, that is what this poem inspires me. Dream and live, live, and dream. That is your glimpse of heaven. Thank you for sharing and good luck with your writings.

Hi Tony! I was wondering where you were!

I'll have to come back and upgrade my review to a 6er when we finally pass midnight (ET).

I love the depth and the mysterious adventure of this poem.
You leave a lot to the reader's imagination - but the poem is clearly about an experience that reaches deep beyond our regular perception. Somewhere between enlightenment or a near death experience...maybe deep meditation. I'd think that the person is an active decision maker regarding the trip for it says 'I set my sail' as opposed to 'the wind took me'' or something like that :).
I love, love, LOVE the fact that the darkness is not a negative and anxiety provoking space in the 2nd stanza.

Then in the third stanza there is a shift in the state of mind...or perception: "that draws me on beyond life's care,"
Which could be interpreted that the person doesn't care anymore about the daily things in life OR that he moved beyond.
And in this space he encounters something that feels conscious - somewhere between voice and noise - AMAZING way of putting something into words that can't be fully expressed.

Then the experience is over - and the person clearly didn't get stuck on the other side - as it's a 'glimpse' of heaven (or hell) - which implies that it's quickly over.

The other thing that makes me believe that the person goes back to the regular way of thinking is that he is wondering if it was heaven or hell. So from a place of unity and non-duality, he moved back to the dual thinking, and has the need to label good or bad.

(Completely different interpretation - the recent magnetic resonance measured on Earth - that showed up and disappeared. For a scientist, measuring it is a way way of moving beyond our usual Earthy life to listen to a mysterious sweet noise ).

Wow! Such a journey! And I'm so glad I could be a part of it!
Thank you for sharing it!

Update: Darn it! I was so wrong! I thought I could just go back and change it to a sixer, apparently it's not an option - I can only change it between 1 to 5 :(. I'm so sorry! Anyways, please know that this is definitely a SIX for me! I wish I could have actually given it. Lesson learned :(

So good of you to review this poem in such depth. The sixth star is neither here nor there as I sail through the galaxy in my small boat! LOL
I was most interested in your interpretation and analysis.
    Best wishes, Tony

Let's hope that it was a glimpse of heaven. Of all the sounds that might be coming from the other place I don't imagine music or singing being amongst them. Although who knows. I enjoyed reading this. Somehow I imagined cares drifting away. Thank you for sharing this. Well done.
