"For He maketh the sun to shine on the evil and the just alike. Your poetic take on this gospel reading is lovely. The rhyme and meter are both well done. I was especially taken by the line that says, "I don't know why some men receive ..." suggests that even the faithful sometimes have difficulty in understanding God's ways. Beautifully written.

Roy, I like this poem. I suppose it's a case of the have and the have not's. Neither is better than the other, just working as God has planned it to be. I can see a lot of work went into this poem. It is very poignant and thoughtful. I enjoyed it. God bless you. -January L. :)

Thank you very much for sharing this to Roy. Such a much needed word and within your poem today. I can say I've been rich and poor and everything in between. My need for a savior though has never been more profound. He is all these things and more to overcome the dark world of sin which holds the captives. I thank you for the faith affirming word that you always share through your poetry. Sending you my best today as always,
Sal xo

I just started reading a book about this. How gives us everything we need to use our talents to succeed despite where we came from. So your poem really made the message hit home. Thank you for sharing.
I just happened to choose that book, (one I wouldn't normally read) and then read your poem has to be more than a coincidence don't you think?

But man by nature still resists,
and God in love always persists.
I don't know why some men receive
while others turn... God still bereaves.

I agree 100%. I don't understand why man wants to resist God's perfect love. It doesn't make sense to me. It makes know difference what our status is, God's love is for everybody. Thank you for sharing.

Hi, Roy,
God is so amazing that he cares for each soul and leaves his flock To get one back. Your poem opines that God grieves over one lost soul. And he is so loving. I believe he reaches 99 percent of the way--we need only reach one percent. An excellent poem, Roy!
Best wishes and
Blessings,
Cindy

Some are poor and some are rich by chances; there is no clear or authentic point in support of the fact; well said; thank you for sharing this. ALCREATOR

Baz Lahrman did a commencement address for the class of 99. It's on YouTube under sunscreen. In it he says "your choices are half chance and so are everybody else's"

There are those who don't think any religious sacrifice is necessary for just living their lives but we can find some commonality.

Romans 9 would be a good answer to your question as to why some men stay and some go. Paul said they went out from us because they were not of us. There comes a time when people value faith or see it as believing things you have no business believing. Part of the problem is that so often biblical narrative only includes preselected choices. Take the parable of the sower. It presupposes the seeds are worth anything. Sometimes you have bad seeds. Sometimes people don't leave because the ground is bad but rather they've discovered problems with the seed or have adopted another religion or more rational philosophy.

Yes dear friend, I?m aware of the text, but one doesn?t sow seed to gain a poor harvest, and I?m wise enough to know who has depth and who doesn?t, But I?m a sower, and possibly a waterer, but I can?t grow them, so I remain an optimist by choice. A servant doesn?t question His master. But thank you so much, I?m able to write because I understand. Bless you, Roy

I found this poem a bit too deep for me, Roy, although that only goes to illustrate my lack of expertise in this genre. So I wouldn't attempt to review this with any skill. However, I can honestly confess that I really enjoyed reading your poem and look forward to more..

Once again you amaze me with your poetic interpretations of the scripts.
And, of course, again you tell all of us such tremendous truths about God's unending love for us.
Isn't it only too true that God is not interested in our bank account, or the color of our skin, or the country where we are born, or that we only can afford to eat the absolute minimum for being too poor? God loves us all, regardless. If we believe in Him, trust Him, turn to Him in times of need, He will not deny us, but love us and protect us.

This is a beautifully written poem, Roy. Thank you.

Thanks Marjon, yep, it doesn?t matter who or what we are, no difference, but in the beginning we are not sure, and yet I was, I can?t speak for others, Thank you dear friend, blessings Roy
