Nightly serenades from these little guys are quite soothing on a hot summer's eve. Pretty much lulls me to sleep - or maybe it's the wine. Lovely piece to reflect upon as we continue to deal with isolation...

So glad you stopped in to join me today, June -- this is a show I try to breathe in at the end of these crazy days... wasn't this stuff of 'house prep' a lot easier years ago? (wink, wink) LOL! Thanx for the review, my lady, and have a great week! ;) Yvette

They can invade the sounds of night, the dear old cicadas, I think they grind their legs together. To make those sounds, they're very loud on a clear night. Well done, beautifully written Yvette, blessings, Roy

cicada chorus
fades to cricket symphony
as night's curtain falls
Oh dear i so wish for a six, but alas...
This is an excellent 5-7-5 for the contest and the imagery made this country girl take notice

Wow, what a powerful presentation! It invites us to the scene to witness the memorable chorus of cicadas and all the sounds of the night.
Excellent visuals, imagery and flow. Loved your multi-colored font to enhance the presentation.
This sounds like a winner, good luck in the booths!

Thank you for posting this upbeat poem about summer. I just read one about a damp, late-season with thoughts of tumultuous times. I appreciate your saving me a seat so that I could hear the "symphony" and watch night's curtain fall. Your use of alliteration, colored text and wonderful painting added greatly to the effect. Best wishes with the remaining house preparations- Joan

It never was easy for me, since I am a bit off a hoarder. I hope the remaining preparations go smoothly- Joan

Ooo. I love the symphony of the night. I especially like the crickets. There is just something so soothing about the rhythm they create. It always amazes me how they seem to be in sync.

Hello, Yvette,
Beautiful entry for the 5-7-5 Poem contest. You have a great chance to win. The presentation is gorgeous...I like what you did with the font...it really stands out on the black background. Good syllable count and connection between lines. Well done!

Simple, beautiful memories evoked by those who have experienced this text. Muted, saturated blues, blacks, golden glows, hints of highlight white, emphasizing the punctuating notes of the cicadas and then the crickets. The reader gladly places herself in the company of those strolling through this reality.
Well done!

No way! House prep was NEVER easy. It's the whole transition thing being what it is...
Have a lovely day, Yvette. Do something nice for yourself to keep sane :) Lucy

I love the different musical sounds that nature provides - you poetically capture 2 of them as day changes to night. In Australia, to me, cicadas are definitely the sound of summer (but not in southern New Zealand where i now live.)
Good luck with the house sale.
