I lived half of my life on the lakeside of Lago Maggiore right in front of the two main islands ( the third was out of view )
...most mornings I had a view of shimming waters in the sun ..other times the lake was still and looked like a mirror...I liked when it was rough and grey with white tipped waves ...( a lot of debris collected after storms)
The lake has swans, ducks and bigger birds of prey. ..and there are many songbirds that dwell and sing in the trees.
I love your closing line " lake choir" ... perfect description!
In a handful of syllables you describe a place teeming with life .

I visited other lakes in Switzerland, but never yours. Apparently I missed a wonderful vista. So pleased you enjoyed my verse and that it enabled you to recall your good memories.

Lago Maggiore is situated partly in Switzerland ..Locarno is a very picturesque town on the lakeside and each year there is the famous cinema Festival where films are projected on a mega screen outside like in the drive-ins) but here people sit to watch ( 8.000 seats).
The road that takes you to Locarno from Italy is very narrow and winding and on one side you have a rock wall and on the other a sheer drop into the lake.

Thanks. I do speak a smattering of Portuguese and German - not enough to get the gist from most cartoons but sufficient to order food and beverage at a restaurant LOL
