It's funny how it sometimes takes a disaster for someone to start over. I'm tempted to burn my house down! LOL, just kidding. But I'll admit I accept status quo until something happens to shake things up. It's not always a bad thing.

Thank you for the review and comments. I've had to start over twice and my daughter once and it's always worked for the best. Still there a lot of work and anguish involved. I don't want to do it again.

It is true. The only thing that was fictional was the words I say were not exactly the same but close. I see you know who I am. My youngest even burned down my house. I haven't gotten that far yet.

Dolly, I had everything totally destroyed twice myself. Once a storm and once a fire. I was sure after the initial shock was past, my daughter would be fine.

This is tragicomedy with the tongue-in-cheek humor. I love this one: "Look at the bright side. Everything turned out okay when you burned our house down." And yet there is a grieving tone weaving through this. It has many metaphors. The last line is powerful one. Well constructed.

excellent use of dialogue to argue the pros and cons of a tornado destroying material things, but not human lives which is what matters. Vivid descriptions of damage done to the neighborhood. The ending is a hoot when daughter realizes her possessions were junk.

A very well-written flash fiction it is never easy to pick up the pieces after a devastating event. When we start picking up the pieces everything falls into places sbdcwe seem to be in a better position than before.

I can relate to this because we had a fire in our house and it taught me that possessions can be replaced, even the family photos, just as long as nobody is hurt. I am also an insurer and am delighted your daughter's insurance company came up trumps.
