This poem will draw the reader in to identify. They have experienced that from their dogs. Then there are people who have lost their dog & miss that warm heartbeat near them. I had to switch to a cat. There had to be a heartbeat in addition to mice and spiders when my little Bea ( Stage name-Sweet Puppy) left for the rainbow bridge. I have a cat & he is a bit like my old cat Scruffles. When I am sad he does come to be with me...for a minute. This is a great tribute to dogs that we love.

Sorry you no longer have a dog. Cats to me, for the most part, are about themselves. It seems a cat has you for a pet. I'm please you have one who may be an exception, at least for a minute. Thanks for the read and comments.

A wonderful little poem about how our four-legged friends help us but attending to our needs. I don't know what I would do without my puppies.

Good luck in the contest.

Hello my friend

Excellent entry for the Witty animal 5-7-5 contest. Good syllable count and connection between lines that facilitates flow. Nice presentation.

It's true, animals know when masters are not feeling well.

Well done!

Peace be with you,

Gypsy

You are right, Mystery Author. I believe that is why they make great therapy dogs and can be trained to sniff out bombs, or diseases of their owners. Your syllables are correct per line. The image is adorable. Thanks for sharing and best wishes.
Respectfully, Jan

Yes our lovely canine companions do appear to 'know' us better than we think- wonder if cats have a similar instinct - a great pic to illustrate -thanks for sharing

A poem of much truth. We had a dog that wouldn't leave our side when we were sick. Very well written. Thanks for sharing. Good luck in the contest.

You are so right, even cats have that same sixth sense. What would we do without the comfort of our furry friends. Your poem meets the criteria, flows well, and speaks the truth. No one can ask for more.

Love the photo! I think dogs--especially if they have been around that person a long time--do have a terrific ability to sense when something is wrong. Rod
