African violets
thrive on sunny window sill
with gentle care
We always love plants that show off their beauty but require little effort on our part.

hola Guapa, I loved your 6-7-4 haiku about the African violets. They are as fragile as life is in many ways, and you are showing just that. 'with gentle care' is a poignant and lovely satori line. Un abrazo. Ulla xx

A very well-written summer haiku about the African violets that are a very delicate plant who needs a lot of sunlight but only the right amount of water to keep them thriving.

Well I must admit I like my minds image a wee bit better than the one you chose, I tried to relate to the image-but could not, so I upped the screen and read without the picture (non African and don't look like she's thriving real well) -totally different, love the read as it gets one thinking though left a little confused with this one****kahpot

Thank you very much for your review and kind words, Kahpot. Take care of yourself. You are the second one to mention the picture so I will change it. I just like it.
Peace,
Gypsy

My Grandma had African Violets on her antique table in the middle of her picture window with curtains usually drawn just so they would get the correct light. I think they bloomed at certain times of the year and she really loved those flowers. It was the only plant she had in her house. Roses climbed her trellis on the front porch. Sweet poem...

African violets were my favorite flowers growing up. Thank you for reminding me in this 6-7-4 that they only need "gentle care". I enjoyed your very romantic picture as well. Smiles- Joan

That's a pretty picture but those flowers are hydrangeas not African violets. Those flowers do need "gentle care" and sunny windows. But my hydrangeas thrive outdoors.

My mom had a green thumb and violets were one of her favorite flowers. Her window sill was filled with them. Thank you for reminding me of her sweetness.

Another fine poem Gypsy, only I'll say, "Under Mike's green thumb, where plants go to immediately shrivel up, wilt, turn brown, and die!" Needless to say, I ain't their daddy!
