Well J, I must say you are right in your element with free verse. You've done a fine job setting the parametres and illustrating the four corners of your acreage to establish the "mood".

This poem seems to have an ancient tone. You take the reader back and forth from the mysterious past to what we used to call science fiction. There is a comforting feel from this. The reader is invited to envision themselves also being guarded by your protectors. Well written.

Four stone rigid protectors,
two on my right
gazing ever
upward and downward,
wo on my left
scanning forward and backward
emitting incredibly hard stares
toward any evil rogues roaming
Fantastic use of language and I love your artistic presentation and the font.

There is a light feel and flow to your words. I like the image of the night time guardians, they give a sense of comfort and security. "Seeking the wisdom path" is a great line that shows strength in your words. Excellent use of words and free verse form.
