Wow, Rhonda, this is quite an achievement. You made me jealous, my mouth watering for your muscadine grapes. I've heard of muscatel only. Most enjoyable to hear about your near brush with master Gardner, too. Good luck, I hope you make it all the way soon. Giddy :-)

You have certainly been busy with all the canning, mashing, and picking of fruit. I find home-canned goods also make great Christmas presents as well as bribes. From your descriptions, you should easily become a Master Gardener.

Thank you for your review, my friend, it?s helpful to get feedback.
I often give these items as Christmas gifts as well. It?s also a fun way to pass time in isolation.

    Take care,
    Rhonda

I enjoyed your continuing story on becoming a Master Gardener. Your lines read well with great descriptions and imagery. I like the way you interject how specific 'things' you made are used as a 'bribe.' Your picture is beautiful. They remind me of the dewberries my grandmother in Houston used to make the best cobbler. Those berries like yours do not grow here--too hot and dry. Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Thank you, Jan, for the review. We have dewberries here as well, and I made jelly and wine with those as well. They don?t last long in our area because of heat, but you have about a two week window early Spring.
Grapes shoe up the first part of July, and, again, there?s about a two week window.

    Take care,
    Rhonda

Hi Rhonda, I love this and I'm with you all the way. I wish I could be there too help you out. Just the work I like. Easy to say when I'm here in another Continent, but it is nevethless true. We were rained out this year. Not a cherry to be had and many other fruits. Very old people here don't remember it ever to be that bad. Now, of course, it's hot as ever. But that's normal All best. Thank you for the review, Ulla. Sorry about the cherries. I would love to get hold of some of those!
You harvest almonds, don?t you? We have pecans on good years, but it?s been about 5 since we had a good crop.

    Thanks again,
    Rhonda

-Nice photo of the grapes, Rhonda.
-Thanks for the notes, and congratulations
on fulfilling some of your requirements.
-An informative and entertaining story,
not easy to do, but you did it well.
-Good opening paragraph about how
the season began, followed by
a brief family history, and your tongue
in cheek, or maybe not, comment about
the hippy commune! That was one big family!
-I appreciated learning about the wild grape
and all of the juice, wine, and jelly you made.
-That is extremely ambitious.
-But then, there's more with pickles,
zucchini, peas, and dill!
-A good conclusion that seems to
be hinting at a story about a
Cow-dog pup. I have never heard of
this breed, so I look forward to that!
-You have definitely been busy, and in
my opinion, have more than fulfilled
your requirements for master gardener!
-Well done.

Thank you for the wonderful review, Pam. I appreciate the six stars!

I have been very busy, but it?s a good diversion that may just have to keep us in stock during difficult times ahead.

Cow-dogs are also crammed Australian Cattle dog, Blue Heelers or Red Heelers, depending on their color. Ours is red. The breed are natural herders, and we hope to get ours trained to help Wayne on the farm... we?ll see how that works out...

    Thanks, again, for the review,
    Rhonda

You are very welcome and deserving of the stars and review, Rhonda. Thanks for sharing about the breed of dog.

Another fine true story, Rhonda--it sure is a shame you wasted them making anything other than the wine, but I guess you felt you should pretend to care about other things!

Thank you, Barb, for the review and comments. My mother-in-law comes to the garden with me, picks what?s easy and spots the hiding cucumbers.

Thank you, Gert. We?ve had a lot of fun, but it?s hard work, too. The grape juice is really good. My mother-in-law taught me to make it.
    Take care,

It seems there's more than one way to get merry Rhonda. There's so many ways and wines not to mention liquor, just on relatively harmless ingredients. And jams , (that's jelly here and the UK) well done beautifully written my friend, blessings Roy

Lol, we hardly ever drink wine, but it makes good gifts.
Here, we call them jams if there are pieces of actual fruit in the mixture, and jelly if you strain out the juice. It?s cool to learn what different cultures call things.

    Thanks for the review, Roy!
    Take care,

Oh cool. You should come visit again. You might want to wait until we stop leading the world in COVID.

Our borders are closed to fun travel because of covid dear girl.

I think I 'd love to have some of that grape jelly. Do you use paraffin to seal it or go ahead and can it? We've put up a lot of tomatoes this year and had tons of peppers. My husband has made salsa. Thank you for sharing.

I actually can them for five minutes in a boiling water bath. I don?t use a pressure cooker, so stick with pickles and jellies.
Right now because of the virus, you can?t find most canning supplies including a canner. There are no quart jars at all... that?s okay, maybe next year.

Thanks for taking time to review,
    Rhonda
