This poem put a smile on my face. I like poems and stories that have a positive feel to them. This one is definitely positive! Everyone should say what is on their mind when they are talking to someone that they care about. Whether it's to a friend or someone that you love, you should tell them how you feel. I think I'm inclined to agree with you the thought of facing the future with companions and friends, a wife is preferable but then one can't possibly have too many friends. Beautifully written in articulate, even narrative and sweetly Rhyme and flow, well done, blessings Roy

Yes, yes so true, Jay. Too often we neglect to tell those around us what the really mean to us. Time has a way of speeding past and the next thing you know it's too late. Great thoughts in this wonderful poem.

This kind of a friend is really hard to find, bytbif you - it's a friend for life. Those of us who found these friends are lucky for life.

Beautiful advice my friend, It is said that, "One loyal friend is worth more than a thousand fake ones,"--we all come across such beautiful people in our lives and must realize that indeed, nothing's better than a new found friend. Your poetry is always very uplifting and quite apt for the current environment; thank you for sharing your wisdom.

What a lovely little poem. The rhyming is impeccable and unforced and the syllable count is excellent which allows the poem to flow effortlessly. I like rhymes, too. This is unusual for a sonnet, but that is what it is. I have a whole book of sonnets that are iambic tetrameter like this one. I think it's by Emily Dickinson, so you are in good company. Very nice.
