Yes, Hong Kong has gotten caught up in the modern geopolitical vortex. And this time, it looks like China means it. No more 'two systems'. No more personal freedom to protest. Right now, Hong Kong seems a good place to be from. Thanks for the reminder.

Peace, Lee

Each nation is busy dealing with covid that the news went quasi unnoticed .

I think China always had in mind to get its clutches on Hong Kong ...

..millions of children to indoctrinate .. a priceless resource for the red regime.

Thank you for reviewing my entry

    Stay safe !

True. But Hong Kong can't sustain itself as a major financial center under mainland China's rule. The financial market is certain to a less restricted locale. From a business sense, China is cutting off its nose to spite its face. Hong Kong is of little value without its global markets.

I see what you mean .. it would be biting its own tail, in other words.

There is definitely going to be a nasty tug of war ..of power

HongKong economic status 20 years ago was major for China , today it far less ..Shanghai ?s stock market is bigger and many mainland cities are economically healthy now.

America conducts a huge amount of business with Hong Kong ..

..so China feels Trump?s threats to burden HK with trade restrictions is just a threat and nothing more... because america would be jeopardising it?s own economy punishing HK.

China is shortsighted .. it chose to say nothing when it knew for weeks ( if not months) this virus was circulating leaving it even spread out of China ...causing havoc to the world yet.....

...despite this my country (italy) is still doing business with it ..

Too many nations have big or smalll financial ties with China

China will never pay for the crime it committed against humanity.

We will just have to see how the cookie crumbles.

    Ciao!

Very interesting theme. Good presentation.. Ha... You picked red their lucky color! Good rhymes, and you followed the criteria well. Good luck in the contest.

    Yes ,

their flag has an entire red background that symbolises the Chinese Communist Revolution.

I m sure Hong Kong wished it was still under the British now .. tough time ahead for them all.

Thanks for the positive response .

    Keep safe!
