very memorable phrasing like "hope's namesake" give a haunting feeling to the poem. Shares a message of futility in human kind without becoming preachy-nice balance.

Thank you, MV, for stopping in on this one - be sure to drop by again sometimes! Here's wishing you a Magnificent Monday out there... I'll be back on schedule in another week or so....? LOL! ;) Yvette
P.S. Sorry, I'm soooooo far behind on everything as we are trying to 'downsize' over here. Just about finished going through the whole house and deciding what to donate and what to put in storage so that the house 'presents' as attractive and roomy - lol! Now I'm slogging (REALLY slow going - ugh!) through room by room and cleaning from floor to ceiling and in-between... forgot how much I HATE moving because you get the house the way you would like it to 'look' and then sell it! :) :)

What a well-written poem. But so sad. I think that is the way most of us feel today. Yes, our life long dreams seem to crumble. No hugs or friendly smiles from friends and family.

Thank you so very much, Barbara, for such a beautiful starry smile here -- I believe we will get through this, I'm just aggravating at a number of things, I suppose, and the muses did what they always do here! Here's wishing you a Magnificent Monday out there... I'll be back on schedule in another week or so....? LOL! ;) Yvette

Hi Yvette,
Indeed, feelings of pallid hopelessness, the urge to tear a hole in ones
world and escape the sheer exhasution, renders one feeling grave cold.
Pining over waned, patchwork puzzle of frenzied emotions, and how
useless it seems to struggle for better fortune. Hearts own painful
kiss, bedeviled by a sense of ones own inadequacy and weakeness..
all this and overall, ineffable sense of loss and irremediable loneliness
in this 20 line poem!!! Exhaustian and reckoning conveyed in full
dose gear and fear unreconciled. A truly awesome contest entry!
Best of luck! Thanks for sharing dear!!!

Yeah.... there really was a lot of frustration and even annoyance in this one... hate to see what this is doing to the children/young people (and what the long-term effects of that will be!)... :) :) Thank you so very much, Lady Ronni, for such a beautiful starry smile here -- they and your comments mean the world to me, Beautiful friend! Hope you're doing okay out there... Here's wishing you a Magnificent Monday ... I'll be back on schedule in another week or so....? LOL! ;) Yvette

Good luck in the contest, Yvette. This was nicely well done, it was easy to read and understand and of course had a nice rhyme. It makes me question what I see around me, what is true and what is false? The title alone makes me anticipate my reading. Well done.

Very well written, though very, very sad as we wonder where all this will lead, surely we can rise and LIVE again-not just survive, when I think of the few that are making it hard for the many it brings a tear to my eye, Loved this poem, a real thinking for the future read, best wishes for your contest****kahpot

You are SOOO right about the few there, my friend -- makes me so very frustrated and annoyed... the effect on the children/young people is what's the most frustrating and even scariest of all... :/ :/ Thank you so very much, kahpot, for such a beautiful starry smile here -- please know they and your comments mean the world to me (always do!)! Here's wishing you a Magnificent Monday out there... I'll be back on schedule in another week or so....? LOL! ;) Yvette

Well done a beautifully written poem. As usual a deftly written in tetrametric excellence and a great theme, that feeling of being slightly off the planet my friend. Once more you reveal your adept ability in holding your considerable ability together, great rhyming in in abcb, well done Yvette, blessings, Roy

This sounds like despair in finding a way for humans to life with each other without pain. It is sad. But with COVID and the police killings, etc, it does seem like we've reached an eclipse that needs hope's light.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Joan

Hey Yvette. This work of poetry is a little more fatalistic than what I am used to seeing from you. The poem is well constructed and rather different form your usual fare. The picture is rather haunting.
It's an interesting narrative and I wish you good luck in the contest. I hope you finish 2nd. ð?¤ªð?¤ªð???ð???

Yeah, first 'longer' one I actually took the time to write... frustration and aggravation, I think, would best describe the mood... but don't worry, I'm still smiling over here!! ;) :) Thank you, Z, for stopping in on this one, sir - your support is so appreciated! Yvette. You are embarked upon a journey that would finish me. We would like a single floor plan but cleaning and organizing this house to sell it would be an undertaking of major proportion. I have a hard time cleaning out my cave once a year. HAHAHAHAHA DA Z :~)))

The author's words are sad, interesting, descriptive and creative. During
this of time of the Corona Virus these words seem to assess life well.
I pondered on the question in the last stanza. The poem flows and connects well. May you be well and stay safe....Maria

You may be busy as a bee downsizing--but you've managed to eke out enough time to present a perfectly wonderful poem that evokes such emotion during these times of separation and viral attack. Each line is a brush stroke of a master...I read it three times for the pure enjoyment of your turn of a phrase! I'm chock out of sixes...but this is surely deserving!--Karenina

Yes! I've "been there/ done that--and by the time I cleaned and primped and stage I wondered why I was selling to begin with! LOL---downsizing is worth it though. We'll all be here when you're ready to impress us with your always interesting writing...until then THIS one was a true treat!--Karenina
