Very well drawn and then executed. I could smell the salty marine air and feel the grit of the sand as I pictured your crew becoming one with the water. I also really like the way none of your stories has an accompanying picture. You make your readers have their own mental images based on your words. Great work...yet again.

I think they used to have pics. Probably past the time allotted for use. Thank you again.

Oh, I didn't know that could happen! Honestly, every day is a learning experience on this site!!

hi
glad I dropped by and caught this.
I always wonder and am curious about those who live on the outer banks. For goodness sakes, the winds, the threat of hurricanes...
so this wee peice gave me a little insight. thanks

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. Have a great week. Gretchen

I'm sure that if I lived near the beach, I'd postpone moving too. I can't imagine a kid who wouldn't love it. Tornadoes can happen anywhere. If you love it there, stay.

-Very nice image and
a good story to go with it.
-You show your fondness
for this place very well
as you share the background
of your family, especially the kids.
-My father's side of the family
was lived about 40 min. outside of
Richmond, and my son went to
the U. of Richmond.
-I imagine it was very different for your
oldest, as opposed to the younger ones
who grew up with the ocean.
-The imagery is very good and vividly
shows what you love about this place.
-Amazing that you have only evacuated
during one hurricane.
-A very good conclusion, too.
-Very well done, Gretchen.

You are very welcome, and thank you, Gretchen. It was back in 2008 when he graduated. It was a wonderful experience all the way around.

Living near the sea is marvellous Gretchen, most of Australia's population is around the coast here Louise, so most are within easy reach of a beach. Australia's a good suggestion, A lot of European countries, are a little landlocked. Well done, blessings, Roy

You did a great job expressing your love for your hometown/area. I enjoyed reading it. I could see everything you mentioned--the beach, the kids playing in the water, and you trying to hose off them before coming inside. You words are heartfelt. I can feel your love for this special place. Thanks for sharing.
Respectfully, Jan

Most of my life spent on a beach somewhere, I miss it every day I'm away, which I'm sure you will too if you ever move. Enjoy it and your children for as long as you can. Thanks for sharing!

I can certainly understand that. I was really impressed with the Sea the first and only time I saw it. I have always been.

Sometimes we need to sacrifice a little for happiness. Stay where you're happy. What a wonderfully written little story.
Have a great day and God bless.

I understand the love of the Outer Banks as I have spent time there. Your musing describes it perfectly. I enjoyed reading this. I mention a typo just so you can fix it. In the line underneath your illustration you use the word "off" twice.
