Hello my friend
Lovely tanka for the Tanka Poetry Contest. I love the presentation and precious picture.
Good syllable count and connection between lines.
The topic of conscience is something we can all relate to. Well done.

-A good image and
presentation, John.
-A well written tanka that
meets all of the requirements.
-The pivot line is very good.
-I think you are linking
the beginning with the end.
-The I becomes those thoughts
that want to gain admittance
into our thoughts.
-You follow it up with
the guilty conscience
that is "waiting for the starting bell."
-You leave it wide open
for interpretation, which is a good thing.
-A good entry; good luck.
-Hope you are doing well.

A timely poem - thought provoking - with many questions yet to answered and many that will take more time than many of us have.
Great picture - well done.

Love how the voice of the poem is neutral...
Either side could claim what you write as their mantra.
The sad fact remains that there ARE sides at all in this day and age.
Divisiveness thrives -- it can be politically advantageous some say...
Lincoln was right--"A nation divided against itself cannot stand."

A wonderful and apt write considering the challenging times faced by us today; it's a "Food for thought" poem that should open our eyes and be a part of the right. Thank you for sharing and good luck!

This is a good poem, but I'm not sure about tha punctuation of the 3rd line. Other than that, I see no problem with this poem. Good luck with the contest.

The love the photo that you chose to go with your poem they are a perfect match. I can see mother is very happy waiting for her baby to start her first day of school while the little girl mind is wondering about her first day away from her mother.
Thank you for sharing.

"Sitting on the Fence", is an extremely well-written and thought-provoking piece. It was a pleasure to both read and review this talented poet's work. You KEEP WRITING and I'll KEEP READING. I look forward to seeing your next post.
