This is a very clever and creative poem and the accompanying photo is perfect for this poem. The rhyming is impeccable and unforced and the syllable count is pretty consistent both of these factors make this poem flow effortlessly.
People do understand the risks involved in being a police officer. The problem is when the police continue to assault a suspect after they've been cuffed. If anyone blatantly assaults another person they need to be held accountable. If a police officer can't non violently control a suspect after cuffing them and therefore feel the need to use violence to maintain control over said suspect then they need better training. I'm not at all suggesting that you condone violence against any suspect, but you can't intentionally hurt people no matter who you are. Being in law enforcement is a very difficult job and I understand that, but this is the career that they chose. The police are under extreme scrutiny right now unfairly or not I don't envy the current predicament that they find themselves in. May God bless you and your family. Have a wonderful day.

I have never had a bad encounter with a policeman. Even the two times I was stopped in my 55 years of driving, the cop was very nice to me. (Didn't let me off, but was nice LOL) when I taught preschool in the inner city, a cop would occasionally use his break time to come in and play the piano for my kids. Wish we had cell phone cameras back then. And I hope all those kids, now in their 40's have a positive image of cops

I'm so glad that you posted this important read. I cannot understand the violence perpetrated daily because of wanting to tear down police forces. Cops truly are heroes and there's no reason to vilify all of them because a few bad people have put on the uniform.

This is a powerful poem and I have much respect for your expressions of appreciation presented to people of law enforcement. My step father is a retired deputy sheriff and spent many years serving the public and putting his life at risk to help others.

You are right in all you wrote. Your words are true (though I've never been a police officer). However, I believe they put their lives in danger everyday and are life-savers1 Thank you for your 40 years of service. God Bless our police force everywhere.

Amen and amen! To say all police officers are evil because there actually are some who are bad cops is like saying all fish are maneaters because of a single shark. (Imagine, if you will, that goldfish swallowing you up! lol)
This is excellent. I've never worn the shoes of a cop, but my brother did for many years. I've never been so glad that he retired early as I have been the past month.
Thank you for standing up for the good cops, which is most of the cops in our country.
