Thank you very much for your 40 years of service. I hear you and I agree to a point. We need reform so the corrupt cops don't tarnish the brilliant unselfish police officers as yourself, who murder people on plain sight.

I agree with your thoughts about police officers and law enforcement . It seems we have taught our young people to disrespect not only the police but anyone with authority. A sad commentary.
On another note - my grandson who just graduated college is joining the police academy where he lives. I worry about him, but I'm also very proud of him and pray for him everyday.

I agree that most police are dedicated law enforcement officers, under-appreciated by the general public. It's the relatively few bad apples who perpetrate atrocities that ruin the reputation of the majority.

this is so true! It is stupid how people get mad at police officers when they are just doing their job. great poem. it was a little of on the rhyme, but i enjoyed it. america needs to hear this!

Thank you so much for honoring our American Heroes, police in this way. I have a nephew in the police force, and i'm concerned for him and others like him who joined the force 3 years ago, not knowing that so many of our citizens and politicians would abandon them, and basically make them targets of Anarchists and mobsters. I pray things change soon.

Thank you for your years of service. I can't imagine what it is like to leave for work every morning wondering if you'll be coming home. My uncle is a State Trooper and we've had long discussions about the current state of affairs. I think 99.99% of police are being crucified for the extreme actions of a miniscule amount of bad eggs. I spent thirty plus years as an RN--I can only say I wish that percentage were true for doctors. God Bless our men and women in blue!--Karenina

Many people who criticize the police, would not hesitate to call them when they are in need. It does not take a rocket scientist to recognize the importance of the police who are dedicated professionals.
At the same time, it is not wise or rational to deny or ignore the fact that some who wear the uniform disgrace the dedicated professionals by acting in a capricious, petty and unprofessional manner. Exacting personal prejudiced tactics against people they despise, whether said person is guilty of a crime or not. There is sufficient evidence to support this. I would never condemn an entire body of people based on the actions of a few, but the actions of that lawless few cannot be denied.
