We truly enjoyed this write which is very profound and powerful. The scriptures referenced here are very appropriate. This is a perfect entry for the contest. I pray that the voters will honor this with their votes. Best of luck in the contest. Have a wonderful day.

You do a nice of job capsulizing American racial marginalization and ought right genocide. And, it's beyond time for radical reform. Now is the time for definitive action. The widespread protests have awakened many otherwise complacent people into action.
I think it is worth noting, however, that the slogan 'Defund the Police' is unfortunate and, on its surface, inaccurate. Those who would suppress this movement for reform, can all to easily twist this 'bumper-sticker' to spread fear and confusion--detracting from the real message.

Incidentally, strictly speaking, this is an 'essay', not a 'story'.

Best of luck.

Peace, Lee

Give me twenty reasons why I should not be peacefully protesting racism. Oh! you say you cannot, well let's see if I can shed some light on the subject. Here are twenty 20 reasons:--Are the names that follow really reasons why you should NOT be peacefully protesting? I would think these are the reasons you ARE protesting. Unless it's the word 'peacefully' you object to.

Eloquently written my friend and well thought out;-) I completely agree with everything you've written except for this one line:
I love this ("Society can change for the better if it truly wants to.")
But it will never happen and that is because it's biblically not meant to happen in the end days. It may happen in our little groups or clicks or families but not on a grand scale because that would go against what the Bible says regarding the end times.

I appreciate and thank you so much for sharing this piece and many blessings to you and your family;-)

Thank you for sharing your heartfelt reflection on this very important topic. I like how you reflect on the times, and history, and Scripture ending with the song. Yes, we need to change our thinking and may all humble themselves before God. For more information about textbook failures, you may like the book, "Lies My Teacher Told Me." But that can cause more outrage and human anger doesn't accomplish God's good will so let's keep praying for God to intervene and change the attitudes of our country.

Wow. This is worth a bonus star. Very well written and straight to the point. I agree that police brutality has gone too far, and that peaceful protests is the right way to do it. I hope you win the contest.
