A very well-written free verse poem about a precious gift received from a grandfather that are still in your possession and the stories you once heard from your grandfather you are now telling your own grandchildren.

What a beautiful poem! This would make a great country song.
I like the description of Grandpa.
I don't often give six stars, but this poem really grabs me. Nicely done!

Life lessons for a wise man.
Grandpa's Watch

Hello, anonymous,

Nice presentation and entry for the Free Verse writing prompt contest.

Love this.....

grandpa, would sit
tall on a stump, as though he
was part of the barks rough bump,

Sweet memory of your grandfather and his watch. His wise quote remained with you all your life... And then passed on his legacy... good job!

A lovely tribute to your grandfather, and such a nice up-close view you give us of your interactions with him. I was able to picture him clearly. Thank you for sharing such a sweet tribute. Good luck in the competition.

Such a valuable, sweet lesson in this free-verse poem. The watch from your grandfather symbolizes a life-lesson you never forgot and which you now can pass on to your grandchildren. Work and wind the stem of the watch so it keeps ticking, even when things sometimes don't go as you want them to. Grit your teeth and start again, wind the stem.

Good poem!

Wow, I have tears in my eyes because of the ending being so cool;-) An honor to your Grandpa for sure!
If I were going to change one thing it would be the background color and make it an inviting and warm color. It does make a difference;-)

Excellent job!

Thank you for sharing and God bless you;-)

Good job author.

"On my graduation day, my grandpa
handed me a newspaper-wrapped box.
Held within, was his most treasured possession,
his retirement watch."

Wow! What a gift this would be.

Bless you my friend and good luck with the poem. Bob

This is a lovely story about a prized object that is prized mostly because of the man who prized it first. It is well written and poignant. The illustration, of course, pairs perfectly with your words. This very nicely done.

I did my poem for this prompt on something I received from a grandparent also. I really like hearing this poem as well. It was well written and a good poem for the prompt.
