Writer's Anguish

Oh yes, you have probably expressed the angst and regret of most writers. But, I bet more than one of us has gotten up to jot something down or to write the whole thing. A tragicomedy.

Hello, anonymous,
Great entry for the Short Poem writing prompt contest. Good word count. Nice presentation. The lines are well connected and flow well. Good luck in the contest.

Writer's anguish is evident; it is true as often ideas come in a dream may go away on awakening; well said, well done; enjoyed the read; thanks for sharing this; keep writing. Wish good luck in the contest. ALCREATOR

yes well portrayed here the ephemeral quality of ideas and how shortlived they can be-like gossamer and difficult to engage at times - lovely pic to illustrate

Simple, short but true. Good presentation. This plagues everyone... Who can't relate to this piece...nobody. Good theme. I like the how you took something realistic and put a creative spin on it.

Very good entry for such a short poem. You could go up to 15 and did it in ten!
Let me go into your problem: This happened to me all the time. I dreamed of something perfect for a poem, or a story. I woke up, and...nothing left.
I now have a little notebook next to my bed, with a ballpoint and a bedside lamp. I force myself to wake up, scribble some keywords, and go back to sleep. The next day those words make me remind of the poem I had dreamed of, and I can work it out.

It's such an annoying moment when an idea comes to you in your sleep, but moments after waking up it evaporates. That's happened to me on many occasions. I enjoyed reading your poem. Good luck in the contest!

Isn't this the truth?! You've captured us all right here in just 10 words. Just last night, the Great American Novel came to me, and as I rose, so did it--into thin air.
I also applaud your choice of artwork. Well done!
