This could have been written today. It's a mess. I don't recall a time when friends stop speaking and family holidays are spent apart because of political rancor. It seems there is no middle ground anymore...
Both sides are dug in.
I can't help but think if we plug only the holes in one side of the boat...
We're all going to sink!

I see I wrote this one three years ago. Things haven't changed a lot with the country's division. I like that sentence about plugging only one side of boat causeing us all to sink.
The friend I wrote about got better and had nearly 3 more years to live. I went to NC to help her move to Florida in January but she had died the night before and my daughter and I found her. She didn't want to move and she died peacefully as she would have wanted it.

Wow. A truly thought-provoking piece. It's a good lesson for all of us to be quiet and to listen. I could feel the words as I read them. They literally leap off the page as though I'm an eavesdropper on her conversation with God!

Thank you for the review. It was a sincere prayer that I prayed that day and it seemed a little odd to be putting it on paper. Maybe that isn't a bad idea because it helped to focus my thoughts.

This is a remarkable piece. You're right. Everyone seems to be shouting and not listening to other people's side of things. We do need to be more tolerant of others and united. No political party worth getting all worked up about. And yes, sometimes we all hurry when stopping to praise God. Slow down world.

Thank you for the review and comments. I wrote what I wanted to say and didn't try for creative writing. It felt strange sharing it with everyone, but writing did help me focus my thoughts.

A lovely letter! I think you covered everything! We sure do need His help right now before this comes to the end of our civilization! We're killing each other. Everybody thinks they are right! Maybe no one is right. If God's listening, and I'm sure he is, I hope He's got something to help us now before it's too late!

Thank you so much for reading and commenting on this. I thought the instructions meant it to be an actual prayer you would pray. I notice some people made it creative writing as if done bu a child or someone other than themselves. This is what was on my heart.
