I don't know how to review a journal, Lisa. It certainly feeds the thrill of reading someone's diary but you've kept it understandably clean. Surely it would've felt good to know that Zoe prefers you to her mother. A diary should record that, no? I of course jingoistically warmed up to the Dalit reference, despite the deplorable context. And well done you, for venturing relationship advice. Very gutsy. Also just realized that you are Ranked Numero Uno on FS !! Jeezus Christ. Many genuflects :)

Thank you for your praise. I think being at the top is mostly a matter of posting regularly for me. Some folks seem to 'bribe' their way to the upper levels with $$$ for reviewing and get mega-multiple reviews for their work, resulting in many "All Time Best" listings, whereas i don't have any that I know of, because i do not throw money at my work. Getting a sincere review is my aim.
I don't think there is any particular requirement of knowledge in reviewing a journal-style entry... they are words on a page the same as any other listing, that will either speak to the reviewer or not. I've tried to keep my entries reading like separate stories which can be stand-alone, then possibly linked together as a cohesive entirety later.
I appreciate any comments you care to make.

You have covered so much territory in this entry. I especially like how you describe your companionable relationship with Zoe. The fact that you have become so close in only three weeks must exhilarate you. I do hope Piggy is alive and hibernating. Finally, I admire how you grabbed the bull by the horns and told Zoe what she should do regarding her boyfriend. Of course we're all wondering if Zoe will return or stay with Mum. Rod

I was scared Zoe would not react well with my relationship advice, but i sensed she needed to hear something from me.
Thanks for your reviews of this series. I've never kept a diary. Writing stuff down about this time with Zoe has been very illuminating for me as I cast my mind back to remember how I was at her age, and what I've learned since.

It is indeed wonderful. Zoe is a force of nature - I'm somewhat in awe of her, but also recognise her naievety and need for behind-the-scenes advice. I remember myself I was more inclined to listen to older people's advice outside of my family. I am taking my role seriously - i like learning!
