I like the idea of the improvised fishing pole, but it didn't hold up very well. I wonder what Pallas had caught that caused the line to break? In Midsumer Murders it would have been a dead body. I enjoyed the reference to Moby Dick or Wrath of Khan as the case may be. We find out that Pez had known the missing woman. Fun reference to the GED, Pallas saying he was the product of overcrowded public schools. Fun dialogue. judi

Pez is the man of many secrets.

I hope this missing gal doesn't turn out to be what causes Pallas's fishing pole to break. judi

Well I?ll toss that one out.

You aren't planning to have a dead body floating about? You'll miss an opportunity. judi

I have another angle more Germaine to Pez and Pallas.

Dear Bill this chapter helped a lot to reveal the potential possibility of each character to crack the case.
It is usually the dumb one who stumbles over the missing dead body and leaves others to write up the reports.
I will wait to see if it happens here.

Lots of fun in your dialogue, Bill! That Pez is certainly not showing all his cards but at least he's helping Pallas with his vocabulary. I didn't know Khan could quote Melville...

In the film, Wrath of Khan, he quotes passages from Moby Dick as Admiral Kirk is his white whale.

Ah, I see! It's been a while since seeing that movie.

Your post is so funny, this constant bickering between dumb and dumber - Pez: I remembered Dolores from Detroit. Her name was Street then.
Pallas: (scoff) Street. Dolores Street became Dolores Lane? Why not Avenue or Boulevard? Why didn't she marry up and become Dolores Interstate Ninety-five.
Thank you for sharing and good luck with the next part.

This story is progressing slowly but surely. The characters are still believable, and the conversation flows smoothly and sounds real. Well done again!

This plot is about as thick as pea soup and getting thicker by the minute. I love the interplay between Pez and Pallas. You are becoming so adept at taking on different personas that I'm afraid that one of these days you are going to forget who you are and wind up becoming someone else.

Nonsense, Dr. Watson. Now let us go. The game is afoot.
