Gee, I can't imagine whom you're talking about. This is such a perfect description of what's going on. It's very sad and very true. Our newscasters take full news segments to express what you just said concisely in 17 syllables.

Thank you so much! Your 6 has made my day. I thought I'd written a powerful, truthful piece but my one vote in the contest was my own!
-
You're very welcome, Lisa May. I'm sorry you only got one vote. Your piece was right on the mark. I tend not to vote in many of the contests because I just don't have the time but, if I had voted in this contest, you'd have had my vote. I hadn't given sixes to any of the other 5-7-5's I'd reviewed.
-
Nice of you to say! I think it's rather funny I only got my own vote; it's a reality check from the public to keep me humble.

Maybe, with all that's going on, they were looking for something to take their minds off it and not to bring them back to it. That doesn't detract from the quality of your poem.

Your poem breaks through and exposes the smoke and mirror trickery. It is merely a distraction from the fact that he botched up his responsibility on Covid. Kool-ade must mesmerize his sick following to see only what he wants them to see.

I agree. I don't understand at all how he has kept a fan base when he is such a terrible 'leader'. It reflects very poorly on his followers if they can turn such a blind eye to so many flaws.

Smoke and mirrors- you are so right, this is how I feel the world today. Violence instigate violence, and in the process innocent people are hurt in the name of stupidity. Thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Thanks for reviewing. Violence is not the path to follow - it will only cause more upset, angry people who will feel even more violent. And I certainly don't like Trump's style of governing with his own vanity and incitement to violence so much on display.

You written an excellent 5-7-5 poem for the contest
that most will agree with, but I'm sure you'll encounter
some on the other side.
Nice use of "fire" imagery.
Good luck in the contest.

Thanks for reviewing. The whole problem is that there ARE sides, there is no unity, and no respect on either side.

I liked this, but I would make 'situation' a plural, or I would do 'enflames the situation.' Idk. Personal choice. Either way, I really like this. Thanks for sharing.

What an excellent suggestion! I changed it to 'enflames the situation.' Smoke got in my eyes when I wrote it and I could not see the better wording.

Oh, you are welcome. I think it sounds a lot better now.
