I enjoyed this parody of Boris Johnson and his wife and their journey. It seems these public figures take full advantage of the public monies to take trips and such! Always some sort of scandal to read about. Nice work!

It wasnt Boris who went on the journey but his adviser, Dominic. Boris was his boss. Thanks for reviewing.

I appreciated your paralleling Browning and your social commentary. Although you had Boris Johnson in mind, there are examples of this irresponsible behavior every day during this pandemic. You nailed it! Sighs- Joan

What are our politician's thinking? (or not thinking). Both sides in your country and mind are quite stupifying to watch. (so mostly, I don't) I find your poem quite witty and a compliment to Robert Browning - It is fun to do this - I did once in honor of Robert Frost (not about the virus)

I cut my teeth on parody back in the 1960s and don't revisit it much but this just leapt to mind. Thank you so much for your review.

Wow, I enjoyed every line of your parody and laugh my pants off , pardon my french. "VIII
'How they'll greet us in Gateshead, from London I own!
when we tells 'em we've brought Covid virus millstone
to hang round their necks, a most terrible weight
I knew I should not have let you navigate.
I'm coughing and aching, me lungs full of phlegm,
and soon accusations will come from all them."
Thank you for sharing and stay happy my friend:)

I am not From England, I have never been to England. I have spent some time in Canada, parts of which have some residents who speak a form of British English, I think. My long awaited point is, I had very few problems adjusting to the language and was able to put myself right into that vehicle and take in the scene with a bit of bemused horror at what was taking place. I fear that even if everyone in the vehicle had been well, this would have still been an ill fated trip. I dare say, not being an expert in this type of humorous writing, that this is absolutely fascinatingly good writing, and you sir have proven once again that you are master writer. Bravo!

I would love to meet you one day. I think we speak the same language, regardless of pigmentation. (The latest piece of police brutality makes me want to weep) Thanks so much for this great six-star review.

I would so love to sawp ideas and bounce around concepts with someone as gifted as you. Maybe one day. That is if the virus does not get us one and all.

This was absolutely great J. I actually understood the narrative about Robert Browning, since I was required to study about him, so it was a good choice of format. I also knew about the accidental/ purposeful spread of the virus (it made news here lol). This was well penned and well rhymed, great job.

This was very well written. I really liked it. The language, the ude of dialect, was great. I can wee why this one is well received. Funny also. It made me chuckle.

I didn't understand all of it, but I did laugh in sections. I liked the feel of your writing and it flowed well. I understood the story line and liked how you sectioned off each stanza. Very refreshing.

Thank you for reviewing this. I had a feeling it might be unclear to those not up to speed on UK politics, and why should you be?

I have noticed here in the US we have had the same behavior. Governor Cuomo of New York is seen regularly on TV shouting about wearing masks, yet he doesn't in public. The mayor of Chicago insists beauty salons remain closed, yet she goes out and gets her hair done. It makes one wonder about politicians integrity. I enjoyed reading your poem. It caused me to smile, although the topic is very serious.

It was intended as one of my 'laugh at the devil poems'. Thank you for reviewing this sympathetically.

This is a delicious parody - a clever appropriation of the Browning poem to mock the arrogance of thinking the-rules-don't-apply-to me. I am familiar with this story. A similar thing happened here in NZ when the Minister of Health broke the stay at home rules twice by driving from his home, but at least he didn't have covid symptoms... he kept his job too.
