A very touching story..you may have written it as a fiction piece but I have no doubt that this could happen in realy life. Pets are very sensitive ..they sense when we are feeling sad or something horrible is about or has happened.

Mac "sensed" Mr Williamson's passing that night and that's why he was silent ...it is also possible that Mr.Willie ,who was attached to Mac and his family (he came over every day), made one last "visit " before moving on.

Anyways , I really enjoyed reading your story .

It sounds like your father had a great enjoyment in his bird Mac. Pet's have a way of becoming like family members over time. Your story was very well told. Thank you for sharing...Bill

A.,

I understood everything up until the end, when it seems that Mac performed some sort of memorial act for the dead neighbor, Willie - but I don't have any idea what it might have been. ?? Are you also saying that Mac seemed to sense Willie's death?

Unusual piece. Thanks!

Great job on the really good image you have created here! Can't wait to see another one of your pieces! Can't really see much that I can say to improve

Hello Alcreator Litt Dear! Nice name , like the picture of the parrot. Then I looked at the top half way through and see that it is a work of fiction, very believable for fiction, thought you were writing about a real person. I was somewhat disappointed to see that it was not a contest entry. The writing flows smoothly, I found no errors, and thanks for sharing.

I see this is listed as fiction, but I can imagine it really happening. For the bird to know Willie had died and to pay his respects with silence is probably not likely to happen, but the way you wrote this is so believable I almost think Mac was psychic. :)

Now this one was a scream and I did laugh.

PP's son - what next?

It is brilliant how you poignantly show us that particular nature in us that often turns childlike, isn't it? Better than technology. Humanity and socialising competence that we indeed live to work instead of working to live. Too attuned to the technologies that urge us to get this and have that and swallow this to avoid that. We are a lot easier communicating with devices than with fellow human beings.

Hi Dr ALCREATOR,, What a gorgeous story I really enjoyed this and it did remind me of the day my father died and how his dog Lassie howled and howled we couldnt stop her she knew Dad had died and we all cried with her. Animals and Birds have much more intelligence and emotion than we give them credit for A great story Thanks for sharing Mac!s story. I thought your writing style, punctuation was engaging and easy to read . Cheers Christine

That was a really good story, and one I can actually believe in. They do learn to speak and copy mannerisms easily, but the main point of this story, (I believe) is how he knew 'Willie' had died. Animals do have this inner knowledge that we only rarely show, (identical twins...) it's fascinating. Did Willie visit Mac after he had died, and that was what Mac was listening too? I believe he did. I loved the your father's character, I could just see him sitting there teaching Mac and being so proud of him. Wonderful story, and beautifully told. :) Sandra xxx
