This Day 20, two-hundred and fifty word story, Five Percent, has the required line and word count and takes us to that troubled last breath as Captain Degas runs out of air. Damn!

Yep, 'damn' is how I felt, too. But with 250 words, there was hardly time for a rescue! lol
Thanks for reading, Bill. Appreciate you.

This is a cute story for the contest! And I thought you were out in space somewhere and in danger. Here you were in danger right here at home. At least you had excellent partners to dream about! Good luck with the contest!
Not leaving my name because I am in the same contest.

I like your unique twist to the competition. In a way, you show us that catastrophes, such as the recent unfortunate events, have always and will always be with us. And yet, you also help us to extrapolate what you put as a futuristic story to today's events.

Great job,
Rhonda

This is the most scary story I have read for a long time. I take theattitude that even though it is set many years after Covid-19 nobody answers because in the end Covid did eliminate the whole of mankind in its second, third and endless waves. And me, I'm too young to die. Hence the scary.

Hello Katherine, and thank you for reading and reviewing.
I hate to say that I'm glad it scared you, but I am glad it scared you. :)
One of my dearest friends says that, for a normally positive person, I have a rather dark side. I suppose that's true!
Glad you read and enjoyed. Thank you again.

This is really great. I got a bleak and anxious feleing just from watching it. Very nicely done. I think you would do great if you expanded this also.

How scary, not in pain, but running out of air, and nobody wants to talk to you. It's scary being alone with no one to talk, we soon find out what independence actually means in this situation. It's getting desperate when we we realise that covid is better than Mobid, Well done, an excellent post. Good

Thank you, Roy. COVID is no fun, but, at least from here, there are many things worse.

Good job fulfilling the requirements of the prompt, and also in avoiding the temptation to make this all about current events, while still managing to reference them at the end of your story.

I am reminded of a very famous science fiction story called 'The Cold Equations'.

I like that you leave it up to the reader's imagination to make sense of why you have been abandoned in the quarantine chamber.

Good luck.

Steve

Wow. This is very well done. I just love it. It goes me chills to think about dying that way. So helpless. I like the way the character faced the end. Thinking of something positive and letting it come because he knew he couldn't stop it.
